Can you do this or is it just fiction.

For example , say for some reason one of your fingers gets cut off, could you get it reattached and working like normal?

My husband has had both thumbs cut off, they did reattach them and they both work fine. one is just about half an inch shorter, it took a few years to get all the feelings back and cold weather hurts it, but is is possible.

You couldn't reattach it, but a doctor could. Almost any body part can be removed and reattached if it is properly preserved. Ice should never directly touch the part as this damages it.

A friend of mine is a meatcutter and he cut 2 fingers off and had them re-attatched. He received prompt medical attention and is doing well with them, although the feeling never comes completely back. They weren't iced down, but making it to the hospital fast, helped. If the length of time would have been longer, he might have lost them, or had them re-attached with minimal feeling. I think it really depends on the amount of time from when the injury happend, to when you have the limb re-attatched.

As long as you keep it cold enough the tissue doesn't die.

Sidenote: Reattaching them to other body parts is funner.
