People die in war and statistically we are losing less in Iraq war than any other war in history.

Quite simply, the media wants to undermine the President at every turn, and reporting every death in this war is one of the ways they're doing it. You know, we lost more soldiers on Iwo Jima in just a few days than we have in over three years of this war?

Because a human life is worth noting. Just because they are in a war does not make their lives any less meaningful or their families loss less than had they died at home. If people don't like the media reporting the deaths, turn off the TV and go fight in the war themselves. And when they are over there they should be sure to let the military know that when they are killed over there - please don't report it - cause after all it is just a war and people die so it's no big deal.

Partly because of the Vietnam war, where the military reported bodycounts like it was a scoring system.

Partly because this is an unpopular war, and every time that another "milestone" of deaths is reached, reporting it will sell papers, especially if the mission hasn't succeeded.

And partly because of the media adage, "If it bleeds, it leads."

(Incidentally, losing less people isn't all that impressive - Kevlar vests weren't ready for testing until the Vietnam war was nearly over, so the reduced casualties are at least partly due to better technology.)

The media should be reporting on every single death. These soldiers are heroes. We should know about every one of them so we can, at the very least, reflect for a minute about them and learn about the life that they sacrificed. The media saturates us about the contestants of American Idol, the NFL draft, which supermodel is now thought to be anorexic etc. Can you name even a handful of fallen soldiers?

You are right. This is subtle propaganda on the part of the media. Countries like Iran and Saudi and Saddam's Iraq are more restrictive of the news media than the US is, so they have to work harder to keep the privilege of operating there. Maybe that is why they slant the news in their favor.

Because if it bleeds it leads and if it dies it flys. That is all the media knows how to report these days.

I have a number of friends in the military IN Iraq who get real mad any time you ask their opinion of what is reported. Their big complaint is what they do that is not related to fighting in NEVER reported.

Because the media in general is liberal and anything they can do to make America and Iraq sitiuation look worse is by reporting every negative bitonews. How many positive stories have you seen reported out of Iraq. The media REFUSES to report those. Talk to the soldiers in Iraq, their take on the war is way different than the media negative take. Let them do their job without fighting a PC war for the liberals and we'd be all better off. Can you imagine if the media was allowed to report like this back in WW2? We may not have won it.

Because death gets good ratings.

And remember, 5 years ago it was the media who were telling us we needed to go over there in the first place.

Were losing Lives of young men who shouldn't even be over in Iraq...and for you to act like a life of a soldier is nothing...shows how little minded you are.
