First of all, the attacks on America in 2001 should not be the only determining factor in who you vote for.

Neither should the war. Neither should abortion, or gay marriage, or any one issue. An informed voter will weigh all these things together and vote for the candidate who they feel will best balance all of these things.

NO one issue should be THE deciding issue.

I wish I knew. I wish the elections would be more about fiscal and cronological efficency, department effectiveness, finding the root and a solution to global terrorism (not debating ongoing wars), unemployment, GDP, GNP CPI, ending bureaucratic red tape, controlling government spending, ending abuse of governemental systems, keeping taxes as low as possible...lots of things are more important at the federal level - in my opinion. The federal government worring about gay marriage, abortion etc. is out of there job description, constitutionally speaking, and should be left to the states.

In the world of politics, those issues are called Red Herrings. They are issues raised to draw the voters attention away from the real issues.

Social issues will play a part, but for Conservatives the most important part may be not allowing Hillary to move our country into socialism permanently. The other things will still be important but be worked on at the state level.

Because their emotional wedge issues which bring out the "party faithful". The politicians don't do crap about the real issues affected the majority of the population, and they can get a rise out of people with the wedge issues.

Republicans can't possibly run on their actual beliefs as they offer nothing to the majority of people.

So they invent phony issues like abortion and gay marriage to sucker in votes from, oh well, if I said it I'd be reported.

They don't have to be issues at all if the Democrats don't advocate same-sex marriage or abortion on demand.

If they are not important, then why put up a fuss?

Either they are worth discussing, or not. One cannot have it both ways.

Anything else just sounds like sour grapes that one's position is not popular with the voters.

Because those are the issues that if the liberals win, they will have control of the children of this country. They want to indoctrinate our kids and they already are. "Love makes a family," for instance is taught all the time in the schools. Most college professors are flaming liberals. They want everyone to be immoral puppets for their use. I will never be a puppet, but many people already are.
