How much will it hurt? What are the chances of infection? Is it true that the hole will stretch if I get pregnant?

It doesn't hurt as bad as some people make it out to be. It was just a weird feeling for like a second. I've had mine for 6 years (I love it). It may just depend on your level of pain tolerance. It can take 6mo - 1yr to heal. When you find a studio to go to make sure they sterilize all their equipment and that its a clean place. Most often they tell you to use soft soap when washing the area of the piercing (the place I went to suggested I clean it twice a day for the first little while that way you are taking steps to prevent chance of infection). Don't play with it too much when you first get it because germs that are on your fingers will transfer to the piercing, if you touch it wash right after.) In my case it took a year to heal, after the first 6months I started putting tea tree oil on it and found it healed a lot faster, again that doesn't work for everyone but it did for me. I have really sensitive skin (the type that has to wear 14k gold earings because everything else provokes a reaction) so that's likely why it took me longer to heal. Most often the person doing the piercing will go over all the details with you, from what I remember, if you are planning to get pregnant you should probably take it out before you get the big belly happening because it will stretch. The piercing itself, after you've removed it, will close pretty fast. I had to have mine done again recently because the ring fell out and I didn't realize it for a day and could not get the ring to go back in on my own. Talk to a few places and get some feedback from them, they're pretty good about answering questions like this. Good luck!

any piercing across a flat-ish area of skin like that has the potential, and probability of getting rejected by your body. It will actually be pushed out through your skin over the course of a few days, leaving a scab and scar tissue that may never go away. Once it starts rejecting, there is no way to stop it, short of taking the jewelry out and letting it heal. There are precausions you can take to help the chances of it accepting and healing (your piercing professional can tell you about it), but some bodies are just more prone to rejecting. Also think about the belly button area and what kind of activity it is exposed to. It is constatly recieving friction from your clothes, especially as you move. It also comes in contact quite a bit w/ other areas of skin because it's right where you can bend in multiple directions. The stomach skin is contantly be stretched and unstretched as you bend and unbend.
As far as pain, it doesn't hurt much at all (in my opinion) when you actually get it pierced. The worst part is the skin's resistance to being punctured and the pop pop of it going through both sides. But from a few minutes after to a week, or even a month later can be very painful. It will be swollen, ugly, and itchy. And every time you sit down, stand up, lean on something, take a deep breath, eat a big meal, or even brush up against your shirt, it's gonna hurt.
The risk of infection is the same as any time you open the skin and allow germs into the unprotected tissue. And even once it's healed, you can expect to get infections a few times a year because it can just get irritated, stretched, or pulled the wrong way and allow germs in. And every time it gets infected, it can reject, so you have to take the extra precautions again until it's healed.
It will stretch and get ugly when you get pregnant, but then again, getting pregnant causes many permanent changes to your body, and a stretched piercing hole may be a relatively small cosmetic concern, compared to stretch marks, hemorhoids, varicose veins, etc.
Not to say you shouldn't get one. Do what you want. Plenty of people have pierced belly buttons. Just keep in mind you should follow what your piercer tells you to do to the letter.

The pain depends on the person. The chances on whether the piercing will get infected or not depends on the hygiene’s of the person getting the piercing. The piercing will look unattractive if you do get pregnant. Almost like a broken orange.

you can't wear your belly button ring on when you get pregnant and i believe it oes stretch out and when you take it out it looks like a hole well obviously but it doesn't look that pleasant unless you have a belly ring in all the time but that won't work and there is a slim chance of a ninfection happening it might hurt depending on how sensitive your belly button is like for example if you can't even give your skin a lil pinch or can't even get your ears pierced then you can't get your belly button pierced because there is a chance you might freek out and get a bigger unexpected hole than before! don't want that!

It will hurt. There could be infection. It will look silly. And you will regret it later on.
