I speak with many conservatives who say they vote on this issue above all others . If you are pro choice you will not get the vote . Yet if you want to ban abortion no matter what your other policies might be you get their vote .
We are voting yes or no to abortion every time we go to the polls it seems and nothing is being done to correct many of the issues that face Americans everyday . Like taxes , health care ,poverty and many other important issues .

Conservative voter. I look at all issues. I am not a conservative that believes in a total ban on abortion. I do however believe that abortion should not be used for birth control! Health issues & rape should be the only time abortions should be allowed.

well... the funny thing is... they get voted in on abortion... and DO NOTHING ABOUT IT!

it's like if I ran on a platform of "I want to give ever American a million dollars and cut taxes to zero" and then did nothing about it in congress ever... and then people VOTED FOR ME EVERY TIME because I said I wanted to give them a million dollars?

it's ridiculous... we had a Republican majority and president that pushed through all kinds of bills that democrats didn't like over the past 6 years, but didn't do anything on the one issue that people vote for them on...abortion?

why don't republicans care that their Representatives aren't doing anything on the issue? (they may have passed like one bill that banned abortions on 5th Tuesdays or something that really had no effect... just minor changes)

but anyway... a secondary point is.... Rudy and McCain (top two nominees in the early polls) are kind of out there on abortion... Rudy is pro-choice and McCain is kind of on the fence on the matter...

so it could be an interesting election if both candidates are pro-choice from both parties... who will they vote for then?

I work with disabled adults, so I vote Democrat, as Bush has cut Medicaid repeatedly and the people I serve depend on it for survival. I don't support abortion, but it is not much of an issue with me. Everyone has to live their own lives, and it's not the government's place to tell them how to live it unless they are breaking the law. I agree with you that this is a big issue with conservatives. My family is all conservatives, and feel very strongly about abortion. That is why I am surprised Guliani is running.

Yes, some do, which is stupid. Repubilcs only give lip service when it comes to being anti-abortion, for the votes. They had full control of congress and the white house for six years and the the only thing they brought up was a ban on late term abortions.

Well, these days most politicians are so awful that if you can find even ONE good thing about them, that is what you will vote for. I voted for Bush because he is less worse than Kerry was. If you can find a politician that stands for even ONE of your own beliefs, and the others share none, who are you going to vote for?

Who ever raised the abortion issue should be SHOT!

Abortion should be upto the individual requesting or denying it be done. Why do people think its ok for the government to choose for us either way.

Yes. I vote with abortion first in my mind EVERY election. I feel it is the most important issue.

We SHOULD provide health care to the poor (or at least give them the money to do so)
We SHOULD eliminate poverty.

We SHOULD address these other issues.

But isn't not murdering our own citizens more important?

I have always said that I would probably vote for a dog if that was the only way to end abortion.

The only PRO-CHOICE we should have in this nation is women's CHOICE to not have sex until they are ready for a child.

True, I'm very sure many voted for Bush in 2004 because he promised them a ban on gay marriage.

-Oh wait, how did that turn out again? Oh yea still no amendment, the conservative Christians are waiting Bush lol. (I'm for gay marriage btw)

abortion will not change so long as it is as heated and split as it is in this nation.. no one will take the chance of political suicide.. for either direction..
