White clothes are coming out of my dryer with stains that look like of brown lines or “streaks” all over them. I don't notice it when they come out of the washer. I've started turning clothes inside out so the stain goes on the inside of our clothes. I've checked the drum of the dryer for any noticeable stains and can't find any. The dryer is only 2 or 3 years old. Any ideas?

This happened to me. I was so mad because rust is so hard to get out! I think you could have a small chip in your dyer. The chip can be really small but it exposes the metal which when added to wet clothes causes the rusting. I would check again for the tinniest chip in your dryer drum and inside of the door. If you find one you may just have to have the drum removed and replaced. I would ask ( such as-Kenmore or whatever brand dryer you have) before you do this if there is a product that can cover a small chip. Like the paint they give you when you buy a new car, that would be cheaper than replacing the drum. A little item could have scratched the paint away and when it's spinning to dry your clothes, say it was a small rock, it could have chipped the paint on your drum or inside door. Hope this helps! Jules

you can try to fight it, but eventually you will just have to get a dryer with a plastic or stainless steel drum. the plain steel painted drums work fine for the first year or so. but the buttons on your clothes, and coins left in the pockets etc, will chip the paint. and then you put your wet clothes in there and bam. you have rust. the rust then transferres to your white clothing as it tumbles around in the dryer. It is common. that is why most manufacturers have switched. you can get a replacement drum, but by the time you pay to have it installed you could have bought a new dryer. if you dont see any signs of rust inside the dryer, check the washer. same problem can occur in the washer.

There is a fabric seal around the back of the dryer on the inside that goes around the full diameter of the dryer take a damp q-tip and wipe the ring you will recognized the stain. Unfortunately the seal is burned and no matter how much wiping it does not come clean replace the dryer.

Have same problem. Found that the stainless steel basket was sagging which creates a larger gap between the bottom of the basket than at the top. The fabric gets between the basket and the stationary front end on the bottom and then travels upward as the gap narrows and finally gets caught where friction between the fabric and basket causes brown burns. I will open the dryer and see if the basket support rollers are worn or if there is another reason for the basket to sag.

I have the same problem!!! At our apt. we had the dryer replaced because of that and the brand new one did it! My theory is that the cloths are getting stuck in the corners of the dryer panels and getting burnt or something, but then again I use delicate dry with no heat so it shouldnt be. Ive messed up so many pairs of good cloths in that dryer!

You may have a defect in the tub. e.g. something you put in the dryer (like a metal belt) could have damaged the tub. Look or feel for a spot on the tub. Perhaps you could use clear nail polish on it to seal it over. Otherwise, ask the manufacturer or a local parts store near your home. Hope this helps!

I feel certain you have iron in the water . The stains just aren't as visible when wet.Try adding an Iron remover in the wash such as CLR, before you determine the dryer to be at fault.

It could be a number of things.
First sometimes oil and other things move around.
Second it could not be stains it could be minor burns from the heat.
Third your dryer might be broken.
This happened to use, we had my father-in-law take a look, he replaced a part and it doesn't do it anymore.

If it is a gas dryer, you could have some exhaust getting into the dryer drum, or a clogged vent. IIf it is a gas dryer, I would call someone to check it out. If it is electric, well, I have no clue.

Humidity might be the cause for rust in your dryer...and you just can't do anything about it but to replace it...that would be your best bet.
