Suffering from slightly lower blood pressure during your pregnancy is fairly common, especially during the first 24 weeks. This is because your circulatory system has to expand so fast in order to accommodate the needs of your growing baby, and until his/her own system is fully developed.

Of course suffering from low blood pressure during your pregnancy may be common, but that doesn’t mean that it’s the only cause of your low blood pressure. There are other factors which may be the cause, and they will need to be ruled out, so that your health care provider can be sure that there is no additional danger to you or your baby.

Please do not be embarrassed to ask your midwife any questions because you have been there/done that! Every pregnancy is different!
Congrats & good luck!

have you been drinking enough of water? When you're pregnant you really need eight to ten glasses of water a day, especially as amniotic fluid increases. Sometimes dehydration can drop blood pressure, although pregnant women tend towards low blood pressure.

It doesn't matter how many children you have, I've had seven livebirths and I still ask my midwife questions because every pregnancy is different! Lots of water, less salt and more protein. Good luck!

Have it rechecked again. You may have a thyroid problem. They should test you for that. I had low blood pressure and they tested me I dont know how many times. Have you been drinking enough water? Drink water 8 times a day, because low blood pressure can come from dehydration. My heartrate was fast too in a relaxed state. They were concerned but said higher heart rate can be caused by the pregnancy

This is not uncommon at all--don't freak out...

The #1 cause of low blood pressure is dehydration so drink more water!!

There are some things you can do to prevent low blood pressure:
- Drink plenty of fluids, especially water
- Lay on your side, rather than on your back. This may also help with back and sciatic nerve pain.
- If you feel faint, sit down. Put your head lower than your body until you no longer feel faint.
- When getting up from the sitting position, take it slowly.
- Regular exercise helps keep blood pressure normal. Keep up with your physician-approved exercise regimen.

It's common to have low blood pressure at this point of pregnancy. It's because you simply have more blood in your body! It won't harm your baby.
It will probably come up again a bit later on in your pregnancy, but if it is causing you problems, you should talk to your midwife.

Be very careful not to stand up too quickly or to spend too long on your feet to reduce the chance of fainting.

I don't want to worry you but when my ex-wife was having her first baby she had very low blood pressure and in fact was admitted into hospital because of it. But she was ok and the baby was fine. You really need to see your doctor about this.
Just to reassure you a little. I had a heart attack last June and am ok now but they put me on some meds whilst I was in to reduce my blood pressure and it was regularly as low as yours 80 over 60 as a result of the medications so try not to worry. However please check with your doc. I hope your pregnancy goes well-you will be ok. Don't forget to say a prayer though. Our heavenly Father has given you a wonderful gift growing inside you and He only wants the best for him/her. May God look after you and bless you. x

It is normal for blood pressure to drop duing pregnancy due to vasodilation. The artieries and veins relax and get wider putting less pressure on the heart, so don't worry about this. Some womens BP raise as they go through preganancy, but some don't. It should not be affecting the baby though.

your blood pressure naturally drops around 16-20 weeks. It's normal. Yours is a bit lower than usual, but it will rise again after 20 weeks.

Every pregnancy is different. And just doing something once hardly makes you an expert. If you have questions about your pregnancy, ask your midwife. Who cares if she thinks you should know better? This is your baby. Better safe than sorry.

I also have low blood pressure - the only thing you can do at this point is to make sure you drink plenty of liquids to keep your bp up (even if you're not thirsty).
