Is it actually a good way to meet cool people or is it pretty much gay like Facebook?

Go ahead, open yourself up to never ending spam, all the advertising and lets not forget the child predators.
It's a great place to meet absolutely nobody of any interest. Try getting yourself outside; that's where all the real people are.

I guess it really depends on what you want to get out of it. I use myspace to keep in touch with all my 'real life' friends and friends from various phases of my school years have found me there. I use 360 more for a collection of 'cyber' friends across the country.

well i'm on my space it helps me find friends i lost touch with from HS and friends that move to a new base that i want to continue to be friends with
but really it depends on what you want
i have meet a few cool people on there but mostly friends i knew from HS and when i was in Tech school (military training)
