The company I work for is doing secret valentines like secret santa, we each pick a name in secret and have to buy a gift. When we did this at Christmas I never got a gift as the guy who picked me couldn't be bothered. I put a lot of effort into the gift I chose for someone.
Now I have, by some complete fluke (I was the last person to pick a ticket, and my boss claims it wasn't fixed) got his name.
So my question is...
Should I get him a gift and be generous and magnanimous
or should I make him a card and write in it;
roses are red
violets are blue
I didn't get a gift
so neither do you!

I'm already engaged to someone.
He's not my boss.
I am having to buy for the guy who got me nothing, so I'm not cheating anyone out of a gift! I would never do that!

Be gracious and buy the git a pound store present.
Then on a plain piece of paper write:
May your face be red,
and I pity instead,
the poor one waiting in your bed.
May you live in misery, in a right stew,
Christmas I got no gift
so this cheapie is more than I should do.

Secret valentines in an adult office?
Good grief
What a waste of time and energy
Why not pass the hat around, donate, and give the money to a Crisis Centre or something....
As if there are not enough stressors in the workplace these days!

treat your boss as you do with any secret valentines. Just because the last guy wasn't all bothered, it doesn't mean your boss will either.
You dont want to give the wrong impression and signals by giving too much (unless you want to) and you don't want to give too little because it makes you look stingy. Do things normally. Just because he s your boss, it does not make a difference.

heh. if you don't particularly like him and he's an easy going guy who will probably laugh his head off when he sees the stuff...YEA go for it with the card and name! lol. but if he's the serious type who's no fun, better not. Just give him a SIMPLE gift that doesn't take your time and effort- he's not worth it. hahaha
good luck. Happy V-day (6 days early)

What is the point of a secret Valentine's? I used to hate everybody in my office.
Anyway, make him the card.

Give him a small hand made card where you can write your poem in it.
