I agree the middle class poofters are all:' i say it really is snowing outside, gosh i better have a day off ' F*ckin soft b*stards, toughen up and get on with your life!! Though Pamela's response does make me feel like i am going over the top, still i hate middle and upper classes, who are so oblivious to the plight of the rest of the world.

i used to drive a gritter, several points here 1. if you put the salt down too early it blows away or is washed away too late and it freezes so it doesnt work. 2. It's a thankless task, low pay and most of the drivers have families and day jobs. last year i did my usual days work then got called out three times during the night (3 hours per run) on that run i got harrassed by car drivers because you cant grit at more than 30mph! 3. Getting called out over christmas and new year to keep the roads open for drivers who shouldnt be on the road in the first place really sucks. 4. timing is everything so if you come up with a way of knowing exactly when it's going to snow or freeze then please contact your local councils winter maintenance dept, you will make a lot of gritter drivers very happy!

Everyone is moaning over a little snow, we up here in Scotland have had the snow for 3 weeks and we manage to survive and get to work and school as for the the Germans during the war, they couldn't cope in Russia because it was so cold that they retreated back to Germany, they are not as sturdy as us Scots, oh I meant British and most of them wont remember what it was like back in the 50+ when we had no central heating, electric blankets, cars etc, we had to get off our ars* and walk miles to work through the deep snow.?

I can't speak for those of you on the other side of the pond but here in the US the Northerners always make fun of us Southerners because we also shut down schools & such with a little snow. Stop to consider the reasons. Since we normally don't have snow we aren't equipped to handle it. We don't have the road crews to clear the roads or the equipment to do it. Most of us don't have chains for our tires. We aren't used to driving in it. And, most of all, because it IS warmer here, even when it snows, the snow usually melts on the roads during the day then re-freezes at night & we are dealing with ICE the next day, not snow. I would suppose that could be the case for y'all as well.

The English whine about everything, even when they're happy. As for snow, at least the British can deal with it. Americans "think" the way to deal with snow is to go faster so they're not driving in it as long.
I currently live in Taiwan where it was 21C (70F) today. Where I'm from in Canada, we get 5cm of ice on the streets every winter, -40C (-40F) and a metre and a half of snow every winter.
You want to hear whining? I'm sweltering and it's 3AM with the air conditioning on. In February, fer cryin' out loud....
