Oh Bombadil, check the links below. You are manifestly wrong in your statement that no innocent men have been executed.
You're also wrong about your stance on the death penalty but I digress.
We have Timothy Evans, Derek Bentley, Mahmood Mattan, and lately George Kelly -- all innocent men who lost their lives due to improper execution.
Ruben Cantu, 17 at the time in Bexar County Texas was almost certainly innocent.
Since 1973, there have been over 120 condemned released from prison, many by DNA proving their innocence, others with further testimony/evidence supporting their claim of innocence. It is more than likely that many of those who have been executed were, in fact, not guilty.
The main problem in showing who or even how many have been wrongly executed is that no state will go to the expense of showing their own wrongdoing after they have executed someone. There is no reason for them to do so other than moral grounds, which is not government's strong suit.

I believe it is the law. What do you mean, do you "believe" in the death penalty? Do you mean, do you support the death penalty? In a democratic republic, we make the laws. If enough people oppose it, fine, abolish it. It exists. It has existed for millennia. Its deterrent effect can never be measured, because you can't prove how many people thought twice about murder because of the possibility of the death penalty.
The US experience with the death penalty has been one of persistant court limitations on its use, and an equally persistant public demand for it. While it used to apply to any felony, now it's only for certain murders - and with an arcane appeal process, it's a decade or more before it's carried out once sentenced. And no one that has been executed has subsequently been conclusively shown to have been innocent.

Yup...sure do!
Don't care what people say or think from a anti-death penalty point of view because statistics are "milked" by both sides of the issue.
We are a nation of law abiding citizens that have been "tainted" by criminals and their attorneys!
Also, as a society with laws founded upon the concept of our religion, which says killing another in malice and with intent is a crime of law AND religion.
Only sad part about the death penalty are all the loopholes jumped through to delay the inevitable.

Yes. But some changes need to be made.
1) There needs to be a confession, or overwhelming evidence. DNA, video, fingerprints on the gun, etc.
2) The appeals process has to be shortened. It doesn't take fifteen-twenty years to reject appeals. Hell, even Iraq got Saddam's done right!
3) It needs to be broadcast on prime time TV. And be as hideous as possible. After all, it's supposed to be a deterrent. How can it be one if nobody ever hears of it or they handle the creep with kid gloves?"

I'm very torn on this issue -Because I don't believe that two wrongs make a right-but there are some people i.e: Child molesters and compulsive rapist who do not deserve to be around civilized people and we really don't need them around at all...But if you "believe in the Ten commandments it states: Thou shalt not KILL-and there was no note underneath it that said: unless yadda yadda yadda---I guess I'm for it, only in extreme cases ..

No I don't . I think they should be made to suffer for what horrible thing they have done- and death is letting them get away with it. They should have to live with what they have done- like those who they have hurt do.
