Actually you cannot get it out once it is set in but it can be prevented. Before putting the sauce in the container, spray the container with a low or no fat cooking spray. The sauce then will not stain the plastic and the container will look new.

Ya I haven't tried to remove it but a bud told me "coat it with margarine" before heating up. It must be more like a gel even when melted and/or it just really sticks to the container white-knuckle style. Works like a charm. I think the stain just wears away or you could just try bleach, but I found that the container is also quite damaged by pitting so you might want to replace it if that's also the case.

I don't think they will come out. Before, I tried bleach, HOT water, etc... For a wedding gift someone bought us a bunch of the Rubbermaid Stain Shield food storage containers. They are wonderful!!! No stains or odors!!!!

Try soaking the container in vinegar. Next time prevent it by spraying with a little pam or crisco. Good Luck! =0)

Dawn dish soap will take out the stains, provided they are not there because you microwaved the sauce in the container.
never microwave anything tomato based in a plastic container!

Well, not sure how to get them out AFTER (bleach soak like bathtub stains?), but to prevent them you spray your container with Pam or other brand cooking spray. Works wonders!

Soak them in bleach and warm water. It will get rid of most of it.
