You could try to use a bittorrent or check with itunes to see if the programs are available. You may also find a few gems via YouTube.
Depending on where you live, Netflix, Blockbuster or even Kroger has an extensive library of old TV shows. The quality would be
better than any bootleg version.

I don't know about downloading. But, if you want to watch them on video or DVD try your local library (you can even search your library on the Internet and requests items to be held for you to pick up.) I have noticed some old shows showing up in the Video Rental stores as well.
