Okay here is my dilemma. I have a lot of females friend who whine about Valentines day. What is the big deal? I would like to hear other people's opinion about this fabricated day. I am in a long term relationship and have no desire to recieve a gift that day. I would prefer not to be generic and he buy me roses or candy just because he thought it was nice. Why do men get so bogged down with "having" to buy that day or they will make the wife/partner feel inadequate. How many women buy for men? It seems that this is a single sided holiday....but then again what do I know, I never give or receive on this day. I buy him things all the time without thought or stress....more because I liked it and thought it was a nice gift to say thank you for being such a great partner!

Just curious as my partner and I have been discussing this for a few days now. For the record we have been together for 20+ years and have 3 kids.......so long term is REALLY LONG! lol

"Society" labels the day for "women". But both sides can receive gifts. It's not only for lovers. And women feel pressured by peers especially if they see that their friends receive gifts and they don't.
