Could be the Iron in the vitamins. Talk to your OB/GYN.

Try taking just folic acid and iron. Take the iron at bed and the folic acid when ever you want. As long as you are a normally healthy person and attend regular appointment with your midwife you probably don't have much to worry about. Lots of women don't take any prenatal vitamins at all and still have very healthy babies, but Folic Acid and Iron are the biggies.
I would suggest you take your Iron in the form of Apo-Ferrous Gluconate as it is easier on your stomach than other iron supplements.
The iron will also help with restless leg syndrome that a lot of woman get at some point during their pregnancy, and drink plenty of water and you may want to get a stool softener as well, just in case the iron causes constipation.

Although you should take vitamins when you are pregnant because pregnant women do tend to be a little anemic,a nd the most valuable supplement you need when you are expecting is folic acid, a lot of OB's actually don't advise you to stop taking them. My prenatal vitamis use to always make me sick that is when I started taking them right before bed time. SInce you will be asleep, the adverse reactions wont manifest themselves in the morning since you slept it off.. But if this continues, I dont think Flinstones vitamins should be a problem. Good luck!

Talk to your OB/GYN. I was experiencing the same thing. They told me that my iron levels were too high and that was what was making me sick. They will probably write you a script for just folic acid by itself, and then switch you back to regular prenatals later into your pregnancy. If you are not someone who usually has a heavy period, your body may be fully stocked on iron, and you getting sick is your body warning you that iron-poisoning could result (chances are highly unlikely, but your body gives off warning signals LONG before this actually happens).

It's the iron most likely, which you don't need. And yes it can be the vitamins synthetic iron not good for you.

Anemia and Iron during pregnancy:
“One of the great unresolved issues of pregnancy is the significance of a low hematocrit/hemoglobin.
Actually, the studies are clear that lower levels are better, and the unresolved issue is why practitioners continue to encourage iron supplementation and chide women for low levels.”
http://www.gentlebirth.org/archives/nutrition.html#Anemia

“Despite significantly elevated hepatic iron stores after iron supplementation in pregnant rats this had no
significant effect upon blood haemoglobin or transferrin saturation levels. However the mean weight of the
foetuses at Day 20-21 was significantly lower than that of the non-supplemented pregnant rats. Iron
supplements significantly increased the activity of NADPH oxidase in the maternal alveolar macrophages,
the primary event in the formation of the phagolysosome to combat invading organisms. However inducible
nitric oxide synthase activity was significantly reduced in these macrophages as shown by decreases in LPSinduced
and LPS+IFN,-induced NOS activation. Iron supplementation to rats of normal iron status at the
commencement of pregnancy did not show any beneficial effects to either the foetus or the mother.”

Iron suppleme.ntation of pregnant individuals with adequate iron status may aggravate
oxidative stress [Lachili et al., 2001], with the potential for oxidation of lipids and DNA [Schill and Reilly
2000], a factor which could contribute to preterm delivery,

Iron supplements to rats which have normal iron status at the commencement of
pregnancy appear to induce toxicity in both the mother- a reduced immune function as well as to the
offspring- reduced birth weight.

Well, when I couldn't take my vitamins, I made sure to eat a bowl of total cereal, doesn't matter which one. They all have 100% or more of all the vitamins, and they don't upset your tummy because it's not as concentrated.

As far as vitamins, it sounds odd but the walgreens and walmart versions of prenatals didn't make me as sick as the name brand and the prescription ones. I always took them at night, with a full glass of water and something to eat.

congrats on your pregnancy.

well it could be from ur vitamins or just from pregnancy period. I know with mine it upsets my stomach as well. I usuallt try and take them at night befor i go to bed and load up on tums or something. Mostly i get throught the night just fine. If not.. i have a glass of water or something and load up on my tums again. I have been bad on staying consistant as well cause of the nausea feeling but it is important. If u are going to miss vitamins then i suggest being extreamly healthy on ur choice of foods to make sure u get mostly all u need. Im sure u will be fine. take care and God Bless

Multivitamins including prenatals sometimes make people feel nauseous. It's usually recommended that you take the vitamin with food if that is the case.

omg, i know how you feel, i was doing the prenatel vitamins, but they just cranked up my morning sickness, so we tried prescription prenatel vitamins, which i got hospitalized for morning sickness shortly after trying those, then we tried the Flinstones with iron, and here comes that horriable cramping sick feeling....so i just said, let the baby take from me, what i lose i lose, well, at my glucose test they found out i had become anemoic, and so they prescribed me some iron pills, and those i take, but not like i should to avoid getting the feeling back, but yes i belive the feeling is from the pill

Oh yes, they made me sick too. Take them when you don't feel sick, or take just the folic acid portion (start with 400, if it goes well try 800 mcg per day). I felt better at night, so I took them before sleeping. Try that.
And if the midwife doesn't like that, go see a REAL doctor.

The prenatal vitamins made me very constipated, so I stopped taking them Both of my kids are very healthy and strong. Just make sure you make wise choices when eating, you'll be fine.
