I have a 4 year old, and know all too well about keeping them occupied. My game for him is a surprise every morning. Every day in his cupboard is a little box with some things in it beginning with a certain letter, or all a certain colour, etc. They all have something in common. That commonality is the "letter of the day" or colour or whatever. Then we do everything that day based on that letter. For example, I might put a plastic egg, and envelope, an eraser, and a baby elephant in his box. "E" being the letter of the day (which he has to figure out), then for breakfast we would eat eggs, he would wear a shirt with an elephant on it, and just incorporate it into our day. How many words begin with "E"? Colours? Shapes? What can you see on the way to school that begins with E. You get the idea. Then we work on making the letter and drawing stuff, and he has a goldfish that gets named every day, with a new name beginning with that letter.

Keeps everyday interesting, and the fun part is that it takes time, keeps him occupied, and can be done with things you already have around the house. And for special days like Valentine's, or Easter, or Birthdays, it's always themed. Good luck to you!
