I came back to this question after reading the "corrected" version.
Do not feel too embarrassed and you at least deserve some respect for correcting your question.
It is true that for a long time many people thought it "okay" to call those of mixed ancestry, half-breed which did in fact come from the false belief that we North American Natives were animals or very close to it.
As far as your question goes. The best I can say is rarely, and it depends on what area of the USA you are in and what Nation (tribe).
Some are definitely not accepting of any one who is not full blood.
Some cut off at 1/4 blood. Racism can run rampant throughout the American Indian Community, as it can in just about any other community.
Honestly, I would say expect to be snubbed.

One cannot talk about all Native Americans. Native people all vary on their beliefs.
However as a Native person who is active in her community I have some experience with this.
If you are active in the Native community, not ignorant about Native culture, and are general helpful and respectful you are likely to be accepted. Blood quantum does not define who you are it is your actions that do.
Become active. Most local colleges/univiersities have a Native student union that you can become active in. Or go to Pow-wows (because they are easy to find) and volunteer, get to know people there.

The Main question is offensive and incorrect. The word breed is used for plants and animals. And I personally don't think anyone can really answer a question that is a grouping question. As an individual does not speak for all persons in that group even if they think they're answering a general question. Every person's thought is their own. So no one should be saying I think in general blah blah blah. If you want to belong to a group of First Nations in your area, you would have to get the criteria and permission from the Chief of that First Nations group in your area. Hope this helps.

I know people have just gutted you on your question for offensive words which is rightfully so, but do not despair it is important to know why the word breed is disrespectful to not only Natives but to any other human being who is of mixed ethnicities. The one and most important reason is that the word breed is used to define animals that are used to produce young in a controlled means. And, although we belong to the animal kingdom, we are not on the same level as dogs or horses.
So, to use breed does not only shows great disrespect to Natives, but exposes your ignorance to Natives and thus your lack of understanding on Native perspective.
To be a fraction of Native brings about the discussion on blood quantum. Blood quantum brings up deep issues within ethnicities and races. Have you ever ask why is it that it takes one drop of blood to be black, yet to be Native one drop of blood is not enough?
It is argued that blood quantum is a negative mentality. A mentality of extinction. For many Natives it becomes engrained mentally that in order to be pure, i.e. a true indian, you must be a full-blood. In order to maintain this full-blooded-ness you must marry with another full-blood and have full-blooded children and so on. It does not take a highly intelligent being to realize that this is not so healthy to the gene pool. Yet, to be full-blood is to be a true Indian and thus you have a sense of power on people who are not full.
On the other hand, if your intermarry obviously your kids will not be full but half. If intermarriage continues your family's so called "Indian blood" will decrease until you have wiped your "Indian blood" out, essentially yourself. This is completely absurd. A Native man or woman is essentially controlled through blood quantum on the consequences of who to marry. Thus blood quantum becomes more than a negative mentality for Natives but something more:
Blood Quantum = Breeding
Blood quantum is a defining characteristic for fulfilling the requirements for Federal Recognition. You understand what I'm alluding to?
I have to tell you that you probably will be considered not Native enough, but that definitely should not deter your effort if your are genuinely interested in the history of your ancestors. In fact, nothing should to deter you in your search for information about your family's history. In doing so you might discover more about yourself and your will see blood quantum will not dictate who you are.

Metis people, whom I am one, are a proud group of people. Most people accept us for what we are. We are a mix of the OLD world and the NEW. Contrary to what people say about Natives being savages or the European settlers being oppressors or usurpers of the land, we exist and we are a tangible proof of the peaceful co-existence.

Don't say "breed" makes us sound like dogs. Mixed race or part Native sounds better.
From my basic understanding I think some tribes do the one drop rule.

that's gloomy to pay attention. truly of putting down the natives that are uneducated simply by fact their very own subculture has been lost to all of them of you as community's would desire to be working to tutor them. For a number of those natives they in ordinary terms prefer to appreciate a pair of subculture that they have got been linked to. A kin that they have got been disconnected to for motives that they had no administration over. As a rustic and a spirit of community people it won't help to depart all of those wanderers uneducated and wandering. sure there are some which could mock the community way inappropriately, sure there are some that are purely searching for financial earnings, sure there are some who by no ability grew up on the reservation and had the comparable attitude in existence which you probably did. All walks of existence are different. all of us provides thank you, help one yet another, love, lend a assisting hand, include, prepare, learn, improve, mature and understand that walking our very own paths provides us wisdom to a minimum of one yet another if we opt for to work out that no longer all are in this worldwide for corrupt motives. Even in the community community are there no longer those subjects of greed, uneducation and misunderstandings. do no longer save build up partitions to chop up us in hate yet truly take each and each guy or woman as a stepping stone on your adventure. in the event that they're to burn you to coach you a lesson then you've discovered some thing approximately that particular no longer as people as a race, if a guy or woman brightens your day and finally ends up making your existence extra acceptable in procedures which you will no longer think of- may be somewhat element like bringing groceries to you grandmas homestead weekly- thank the excellent spirit and make valuable that guy or woman knows they're liked. deliver out means of love. do no longer forget approximately your previous yet dont permit the hatred of the previous engulf your recent and destiny plenty so as which you will no longer see the amazing thing approximately at present. we are all destined for many purposes. So help to tutor people who would desire to prefer to hook up with the spirit. perhaps this is a factor of your destiny, is assisting the lost souls, no longer looking down on those spirits for wanting to connect with a minimum of a few thing alluring. stay blessed in love & spirit.
