the deviated septum that is the result of bending or bashing your nose I'm sure contributes! Having broken my nose a couple of times, the scar tissue that builds up,the septum not being situated or aligned properly messes up your breathing, possibly leading to sleep apnea or just really bad snoring. The ability to inhale deeply through your nose is diminished and you are more susceptible to sinus infections......so yea- broken is a nice way of putting it!

Because the cartilage is your nose

Ok one part of the nose is bone-made and located at the upper part of the nose, but the rest is cartilage made and this is the skeleton of your nose ... this is what gives a shape to your nose.

What remains are just skin cells outside and mucous membrane inside but if they were no cartilage for the shape it would be shapeless and maybe PlayDo like.

So if cartilage is affected it is regarded as broken nose.

Because your nose is effectively broken.

And it is the bone the breaks or fractures when your nose is broken.
