I see all these programs helping afican children almost on every television channal but never see help for american children.

I traveled across the country and lived on the street. I have seen starving people everyday.

I did see a very limited help programs for food and shelter, but only if you were a minority, otherwise you were out of luck.

Why can't program help everyone instead of just a select.

Even help programs seem to be racist

I guess being white or american your out of luck in todays world.

I agree that there's alot of people who are convinced that everyone in America is either rich or can easily get help if they want to, as evidenced by some of your other answers. Having been poor enough to be hungry, homeless, carless, and sick AND REFUSED all of the supposed programs that help people, I know what you're talking about. You're not lying and not being racist. But people only believe what they've been taught or what they've experienced. Only those who have been that poor and see how the scraps are divied out at the bottom know what you're talking about. The others don't really care. I'm sickened every time people whine about other countries because what they are saying is WE DONT MATTER. Now, is that the equality we were going for? It doesn't seem like equality to me. While it's true, as someone else said, we are the minority, the factually typical poorest of the poor in this country is a young white woman. Even Jessie Jackson said so. If it wasn't true, why would a black leader say so? Young white women are the most likely to have been squeezed out of any welfare programs in the 10 years of welfare reform. This also applies to middle aged sick white people as well as people who used to be working or middle class. Young white women make up the majority of people earning minimum wage in this country, which we all agree is not a living wage. You can find all of these facts on the internet.

I don't have a comment on racial matters but I completely agree with you on a lack of programs- How many individuals would sponcer a child HERE in the USA if we could- myself certainly. Help with clothes, schooling and maybe even college. People like a face on things, a chance to choose and some sort of chance to see the result- not just giving to faceless charities.
I teach art and have been a mural artist for 30 years- I would train someone with push and any initial talent- so would many other local business owners. Finding them through a source would be great. We are not a rich family, middle class, but it always comes back and I believe in that.
A lot of the programs you are seeing for the minority communities are because they were started by minorities to help others or for that specific community- not necessarily for a specific race. Look at the big picture- people that need help, just need help, most of us feel that way- the charities may be started due to that persons links to that community- don't you see?

I basically agree with "master T" above, but have a few things to add:
Because America doesn't want to admit she has a problem. We think forcing our "help" on other countries makes us "better" but in reality, half the time the other countries don't WANT our brand of arrogant, egotistical help. If we actually helped our own first, how would we earn our brownie-points with the rest of the world?

And I agree with you: Help programs here in America are VERY biased! I grew up very poor but Dad (who worked his butt off for every cent) always made like $20 over the limit for getting any financial help. So we went hungry and wore clothes people from church brought over. My dying mom's friends would bring groceries. Now that I'm married, we again make just barely over the limit to get any help. We are "too rich" to get help buying a house so if we ever get so lucky as to be homeowners it will be a miracle.

Real racism: that's where I have NEVER discriminated against any other race but yet my life has been threatened just because I'm white. My husband has had his stuff stolen and vandalized for being white. And people I know have been passed up for scolarships just for being white.

You're not being honest. There is a huge program that helps all starving American children. It's called Social Services, Welfare, or the Food Stamp Program, if you will. White Americans have always profited from these programs, at a much higher rate than the minorities. In fact, the relief program was originally developed for white women who lost their husbands in the war. It took an act of congress to extend these benefits to Black Americans who were already suffering. The programs in Africa are long overdue as well. Here again, minorities have suffered while Whites have enjoyed the richness of the land.

It's time for you to wake up and face the reality of racism. Whites have enjoyed the best that life can offer, both in this country and around the world. Now that the tables have turned, it's time for somebody else to soak up the sun. Yes, it's time for all children to play in the pool. The world is no longer YOURS, my friend. It belongs to all of us.

BTW: While people of color continue to out-number Whites, Whites still consider themselves to be the majority and call an entire world full of non-whites the Minority. Ridiculous!

Gawker is now reporting that the Times is preparing a story arguing that President Obama is depressed. According to a Gawker article published September 12th, “Obama no longer finds joy in the political back-and-forth” and “has seemed increasingly listless to associates.” It goes without saying that an article on the state of Obama’s mental health is purely speculative since, without a report – or prescription- from the Presidential doctor, there’s no way of accurately discerning the President’s mental fitness. But murmurings on whether Obama requires Zoloft or Wellbutrin does add another layer of context to the debate about what it means to be the first black President and the expectations that title carries.

The reason is Africa is a third world country. If they had programs like the Salvation Army would they want us to help. Or if they had good soil to grow fruits and vegetables would they need our help. It's not that they are racists, its that they see America as a successful country who doesn't need help programs. The problem is not that people can't help people, it's that people can't help themselves or family. If all of the U.S relied on "programs" to help them, what's the since of working? I say that you look on the bright side and see that America doesn't need help like Africa, a Third world country, needs. It's more of an individual thing instead of being poor or jobless.

Ok, I'm white and yes, I do think that there is a trend toward "reverse" racism in the US, but give me a break. These children are from 3rd world contries and literally have nothing. At least we have programs like WIC and foodstamps in the US.

This is so sickening that American people would be jealous of others getting help. Its called welfare.... and the fact that someone is white they are already ahead in the game called life thats just how it is. Be more charitable, if you are so disgusted with other countries getting aid from the richest country in the world why don't you donate some of your money to "whites or americans" ...

There are city and state programs, soup kitchens, food banks and churches, and the Salvation Army all over the United States that help feed people everyday

These programs are not based on what race or religion a person is.
