I sure did you are bringing back some fun memories and some painful ones to me and some of my cousin's and friend's would buy some and act like we were in the army and we would throw them at each other we had a good time back then.

Absolutely! I believe all children should. What other way to learn about combustion and forces created by explosions. Let's face only a few select people actually blow their hands off.
I believe the practical experience beats the pants off of some theoretical discussion, or worse yet the cop-out, "OH NO! That's waaaay to dangerous, don't ever do that!"

No, we too poor to afford firecrackers. Instead the adults would just take out their rifles and shot up into the sky when the new year started. I played mostly with marbles and tops. I grew up in a ranch and there was not much to do there.

Yes I did, all type of them, now they say is dangerous but I also ride in the car without a car seat, never used a helmet while on my bicycle or skate, ride on the bed on my dad's truck claim trees 5 or 6 times my high, got spank from my parents like crazy and so many other things, and I'm still alive, haven't lost any of my body parts or needed professional help.

Yes we did. I can remenber getting in BIG trouble with them.
We had a bull dog that hated fire,so we hung firecrackers on an old clothes line with clothes pins, and then lit the firecrackers, well the dog jumped up and got one in his mouth.Need i say more we all got our dinner standing up that day.

But the only difference between now and then kids then wasn't stupid enough to hold them in their closed fist or throw them at other kids purposely trying to hurt them. As times changed and kids changed that is when the law changed.

We had mostly Black Cat brand, and couldn't buy them in the stores because they weren't legal in Iowa...you had to find someone who'd gone to another state and get some from them. The markup was terrific, too, but it was fun.

Yes, Blackcats were my favorite, had one blow near my hand when I was 7 or 8 years old, hurt like hell, had powder burns for awhile.
