Yah, I really love indie alternative, and my two favs are Nada Surf (their two most recent albums) and My Morning Jacket (I LOVE their newest album, "Z," but their older stuff is good, too). You'd probably like most any of the Death Cab for Cutie albums: "We Have the Facts and We're Voting Yes," "The Photo Album," "Transatlanticism," and "Plans." And Interpol's albums "Turn On the Bright Lights" (esp. the songs "Untitled," "NYC," and "Leif Erikson") and "Antics." Oh, and Mates of State (first try the songs "Fraud in the '80s," "Goods," "Fluke," and "Ha Ha"). And The Go! Team. Awesome.
