It's a classic album from 1967.

No I wasn't born then either, and please don't bother saying you have never heard of it.

It's a superb album - have you heard the Live version Arthur Lee toured and recorded in 2003? I bought it, thinking it was a live concert from the time of the original album - when I got it home and read the notes, I thought, '****, it's probably a real crap rendition.' No need to worry - it's a beautifully faithful performance! I highly recommend it!

It's a work of genius. The opening song is wonderful... It sounds like it's going to be a sort of typical West Coast melody but then the Mariachi trumpets come in and the whole thing becomes very unusual, very strange, but still highly melodic. The rest of the album is fantastic too!

ive only ever heard alone again or-and everytime it comes on the radio i say to myself i should get forever changes but never have-a band called calexico did a cover of it a few years ago and it was great-its a real gap in my knowledge cos im pretty clued up about most records that have attained classic status-but so far this one eludes me-i will say though that every time i read one of those greatest ever poll things its usually in there somewhere-and ive always heard it talked about with some degree of reverence by serious music lovers-maybe i should give it a try huh?

I like the first track but it goes downhill after that, and when it gets to the line about "the snot is caked on my pants", I have to turn it off. Let's just say it hasn't aged well.
