ok so, i have this friend who lies alot. like the other day she said that she's had sex with a guy 3 times ( and that guy doesnt even like her). she said that she had to give one of the babies up for adoption (and i know that she's lying about) and the other two she had never had. what can i do to make her stop lying? i know she's lying but she wont stop with the lies. and its starting to get really annoying. i dont know how to tell her that i know she's lying. please help!!!
(by the way she's only 15 and the guy has only been here for 2 and a half years)
(so its impossible for her to have been pregnant 3 times. right?)

lol catch her in a lie...tell her you found the baby she gave up for adoption and now your parents want to adopt it or something lol

I've had many friends throught the years that lied about everything it seems. 20 years later these people still lie. It's just who they are. I don't believe you can change them or make them stop, it's just who they are. They lie because they feel a constant need for attention, however no amount of attention will ever fulfill their needs. Everyone has different voids in their life, your friend fills hers by lying. You may fill yours by reading a book or watching TV, we are all different that's just the way it is. You can't change that. The friends that I had that were compulsive liars eventually got tired of me telling them to stop lying and chose friends that thrived on all the stories. You could try to tell your friend how much you like her but you can't stand all the stories. Tell her if she must lie to get through life lie to everyone else but don't lie to me. Also her lies just may some day turn on you and get you in a heap of trouble. As much as it may hurt you are better off finding a different friend. A FRIEND THAT LIES TO YOU IS NOT A TRUE FRIEND!!

Pretty much impossible, yeah. This girl has serious emotional issues. Needs to brag on about things. Maybe doesn't feel good about how she really feels.
Unless you are willing to put up with a lot of emotional junk forever, go and find a new friend. You can also let her know that you feel annoyed with the lies. I don't expect she'll really understand what you're saying, tho.

Oh, lets make it fun:
Lets say you're on the couch reading a magazine, or taking food out of the fridge to prepare a meal, or putting on make-up.
Without looking away from what you're doing, when she is teliing a lie, say "Umm, LIE!" or something like that. Do it in a serious but lyrical voice. Trust me it will become irritating to her once you start doing it all of the time, especially in front of others.
There is no need for you to be streseed over such a boor.

I have a friend who is 22 and I met her when she was 17 and she is a big time liar like that but she has issues that are deep and ppl who feel they need to lie like that have issues and feel thats a good way to get attention maybe when they were younger they didnt get enough attention and lying is there way of getting it now
I have tryed everything with my friend to get her to be honest with me and she still isnt to this day
she probably needs professinal help to deal with whatever is causing her to feel the need to lie so much.
making fun of her or getting mad at her wont really help trust me on that.
i really hope everything works out good for ur friendship and she gets the help she needs

You should be asking how to deal with/leave a friendship with a compulsive liar, which she is. That is a serious problem. Handle the situation with care and think about talking to someone you both trust so she can get help.

Call her out on it everytime you know she is lying...she will get annoyed and stop. I have had to do that before and it worked!

u can't do anything to help her from lying. its up to her. but i would kick her to the curb. Friends like that u don't need. they are just trouble.
