is there some software i can get to improve the quaility to the way it was at the beginning. Any help, hints or tips would be fantastic...Cheers

Mp3s are degrading i believe

You can use software to upgrade your tunes, but they will never be the same as the originals. The programs, use complex algorithms, that try to backwards engineer your music. This has the effect of removing artifacts from the sound, but it is only a "best guess" at what the original sounded like.
I Rip my CD's using Windows Media Player as MP3 (best) and then transfer to iTunes for my iPod, as iTunes Rips at a lower quality bit rate than WMP. This has two benefits. 1 - You have a backup of DRM Free music, 2 - You have better quality music on your iPod for playback.

If you have been converting between formats, it's likely that they will lose quality.

Your best option would be to re-rip the CDs if they were from CDs or re-buy or re-download the music from wherever you got them from.

if you rip from cd alot, check your settings are set to Quality
