What would you say to a friend if you found out that they were really sad?

Cause I am! Problems at work.

Uhhh well, dealing with a best friend/sister who has thought about suicide more than once in her life (and has attempted), I have experience but that doesnt matter, because all you have to say is that "i'm always here for you, but i can only do so much."

My friend was very depressed for the whole of last year. He didn't say anything but I could tell that he was. I gave him support and tried to help him get through his difficult time. He is fine, and now he's the one that cheers me up when I'm down.
