What does it matter, we will leave eventually and none of this would have happened if we had not destabilized the country in the first place.

At least Saddam kept a lid on sectarian violence.

An Iraqi civilian is 30 times more likely to die a violent death now under US "control" than when the "murderous dictator" was in power.

right that's a tip, there'll be no diplomatic authorities in Iraq 6 months when we go away. era. the purely position the authorities is known is the a million sq. mile eco-friendly zone. have you ever considered a map, Iraq is large. human beings, which includes the authorities, are insane to imagine that a civil conflict received't blow up 2 days when we go away, even in 5 years. Shia were maximum folk although the underclass continuously. The outnumber the Sunni's by technique of a huge volume. it really is going to be a feeding frenzy. Rosen: quite everyone seems speaking about a reconciliation procedure, yet Iraqi Shias do not prefer to compromise with the Sunnis. they don't ought to. there is going to be a genocide of Sunnis in Baghdad. The Shia have the numbers to do it; they could take up all the Sunni motor vehicle bombs it takes. The human beings are unable to forestalling it; they could't tell a Sunni from a Shia. the superb you are able to wish for is that it would not spill into the neighboring international locations.

Wasn't this sectarian fighting a concern of the adminstration before the invasion?
They must not have taken a look at Iraq's and Shia history!

Baghdad will be much like Beirut was in the 80's.

At least with the US there there is a chance that we can form some sort of solution that does not involve the destruction of the Shiite, Kurd or Sunni population. If we leave one or two of them will be wiped out and then it will spread beyond the borders of Iraq.

Remember the factions are fighting for control of the Muslim world not Iraq. They want their leader to be the Caliph (Leader of the Muslim world) Whoever finally does unite the Muslims under one view will have more power than any government in the world

Oh man, if you think THIS is bad, wait until the U.S. leaves (prematurely)

The Iraqis are an infant democracy. Just like a baby cries and throws temper tantrums because it hasn't learned any better way to manipulate and understand the world around it, the Iraqi insurgents are lashing out against a new way of life they neither understand nor think is appropriate for them.

We have to continue helping them to mature. Sooner or later, they will grow up.

And maybe then, on that glorious day, they will thank the U.S. by legislating into law a new holiday: Independence Day from Saddam (bought and paid for, in blood and money by the Citizens of the United States of America)

Yet another ridiculous question with even more ridiculous answers :-/ Can you please provide evidence to support your claim that "genocide" is taking place in Iraq? Without a legitimate foundation to support your question, I am left with the point of view that you are yet another cloned anit-war anti-Bush lemming. I suppose you have access to classified information in regards to the situation of Iraq? Or perhaps you have been to Iraq as a grunt on patrol? Let us know why you feel this question has validity.

Whether we are there or not, the bombings are going to continue. Might as well try to quell it right now while we are there instead of letting 10 or 20 years of this happen before we have to go back for the 3rd time and millions have been killed in the process.

technically its not genocide, its more of civil war. both sides are actively killing each other. i think Iraq would be better off without us.

The genocide that has been going on since the US imposed sanctions on Iraq in 1991.

It will be MUCH better when the US forces are expelled and the genocide ends.
