Your piece of Silver/Tourquois would be considered a talisman, as it is a place where you store your own personal power. An amulet is something that wards off specific forms of energy.
I have both an amulet and a talisman that I wear every day, and I work in a government office in Washington, DC! My pentacles often cause a raised eyebrow or two, but no one has ever actually said a thing about them.

I like the steel toe boots. I got me a pair of those as well. Good for kicking out those things that really are not doing you a whole lot of good.
When I "ward" my places of work or residence, I like black tourmaline, and some black lava bits I have. They work well as they draw away negativity, and they tend to absorb it.
I also have a nice smoky quartz that has been irradiated black sitting on a table near my home door. It is quite amazing that some folks decide they would rather "wait in the car" than come in my house. And usually, they are not the kinds of people who I want in my house. Good litmus test.
My office I have salt I use on the floor once a week, which I have mixed with some "black salt" that really grounds out my office and leaves it feeling clean once the cleaning folks sweep it up. Another good tool. If you don't have salt, try picking up some extra at the fast food joint, those little packets. Works just as well.
And one more item, Florida Water. I wash down my desk, phone and keyboard on a weekly basis with this, leaves a nice fresh scent and the office "feels" clean.
Just some things I do, that makes me feel better. And anything that makes us more comfortable or relaxed in our home or work environment is not "silly".

God's protection wards off evil when I pray to him.
The St. Micheal the Archangel prayer to rebuke the devil.
Haily Mary Full of Grace... prayer will put the evil one away too.
The St. Benedict Medal which protects you against malice, bad crops, protects the home, and against witchcraft. You buy a brand new medal, have it blessed by a Catholic priest, and put one in home and one outside and/ or carry on your person.
Holy Water puts the demons at bay, as well as crossing yourself:
"In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

take a piece of paper and write everything that you believe to be evil on it. Fold it 3 times and put it into a small jar of water that has a lid. Don't fill it comeplely. Put the jar in your freezer in the bottom corner where you wont be touching it. It will freeze the evil and leave you alone.

I have a Native American Medicine Wheel tattoo on my ankle. IT is suppose to keep away illness and injury. I was very sick for a long time when I was younger. I have not had more than the flu since I got my tattoo, not even strep throat. So I am happy with it.

Before I step out of the house I do a cross to myselef. Also when I go to bed! I also wear a charm that my Mother gave me and blessed for me. I have my daughter kiss it every once in a while to take her with me and bless me also.

well....been having a bad couple of months bf dumped me, then got fired, etc. so my friend got me this string necklace of different colors. his mom is buddhist. and i guess you can only get the necklace after going to the temple to pray for 180 days or time or something like that i'm not sure. so far... i'm not as depressed as i was about the crap that went on with me....but i dunno if it'll bring me goodluck. don't really believe in it but will be happy if it does work. so i'll be wearing it for awhile;
