It's only a friendly, time to try out the younger faces. I live and work in NI and I am getting some stick from those NI supporters who say "We scored 3 against Spain". How many did they score against Wales? - sorry unfair question as David Healy was injured

I wonder if the Brazilians booed the Brazil team when they lost like the English booed the England team when they lost. Or if people made a big deal about Brazil's loss like they did with England's? Sometimes it seems unfair. People base performances on reputations. Because Brazil is always so good, people will look to the brighter side by saying that were giving their subs some playing time. With England, having that repuation that hopefully you know what I'm talking about, people will blame the loss on their inability, rather than the fact that they were also trying out new players. It just seems unfair.

An English defeat in football, cricket and athletics will always create a massive critique plus bad news coverage from the media.
It's what news is all about, discussion, debate, criticism, 'if onlys'. I believe we have all voiced our views at some time about "What we would have done in the same situation!"
A successful spell of matches will always increase the expectation of the media and fans alike for continued victories. One hiccup in performance or team selection, perhaps due to player injury, can throw a team into a downwards spiral.
Even though the early British attitude to sport was to take pride in participation and not necessarily victory, we now have a more positive attitude to winning eg Andy Murray on the tennis circuit.
Meanwhile, in Great Britain, we enjoy a fantastic standard of sport and event presentation, and long may it continue

Let's hope our performance in the 2012 Olympics will have the media fighting for superlatives!

A friendly is a time to try out new faces. Fine.

But, how the hell does the guy go and play both Neville and Lamaprd on the left? Why was Dafoe on the bench? Why was Barry on the bench and Neville played? Why doesn't he have the balls to just drop LAMPARD!??

Either way, the formation was and the players selected were perplexing.

Friendlies are friendlies, but the game was embarrassing, and Spain made us look like a League 1 team.

Because England should put some bloody effort in to their matches and be proud to wear an England shirt. They don't give a fly fook whether they win or not, and that is not just friendlies it's world cup's, European cups etc
When people are paying £50 for a ticket they expect to see a bit of passion.

Its not the fact that England have lost a friendly (by the way england don't only lose friendlies) its more that the team to put it simply is crap. they don't perform well, technically they are rubbish, and just don't have any idea how to play free flowing football, and sorry but the fact that your having to compete against Northern ireland says it all (both teams probably share more parallelsthen you think).

As every other nation knows the English are arrogant bullies if allowed to get away with it and live on past glories, they still think they're the superior race and should win everything they enter automatically... sorry Englaisios but that's a fact.
