I would have respect for the Mexican team if they acted like MEN, not bratty little boys, and respectfully acknowledged their defeat and then shook the hands of the U.S. team members. There is no shame or dishonor in losing if you give it your best. But no... these players had to act like children. I remember very well when Mexican fans were spitting at the American players in the past.
I mean, talk about primitive people! No wonder their country is poor, corrupt, dependent on 'outside' (read: AMERICAN) assistance, and utterly hopeless, if that is how primitive and pathetic its people act!

I love soccer... my boyfriend played it for many years, and he taught me about the game. But most Mexicans would probably say that a girl shouldn't follow soccer, right?

Junkmail you're a freaking idiot!! "A la verga contigo pinche guero hijo de puta" then you talk crap about us being racist but look at what you're writing, what should we think about Mexicans if you that are Mexican are calling us that. If you had some dignity you should have written that in English.
Damn get over it Mexico lost, they didn't play good enough that's why the US beated them. There's no "luck" in soccer, only pure talent.
Your team thinks they are all that when they are not, and so does their fans like yourself. If you want to show that Mexicans aren't what people say they are then you shouldn't call us what you called us. Mexicans fans should have respect for the game they "love" by not spitting and throwing cups to the US players.

Someone commented that Dannovan was a I don't know what just becasue he didn't talk to Univision, you know what that was the best thing he could have done. For Univision, Latin America means Mexico.... so i'm just glad he didn't give any interview.

Stop calling us racists becasue you are one too. And it's really unfair that you are saying this things about the peolple of the country that now you call HOME, and don't say you don't cuz if not then you wouldn't be here.

Get OVER IT ONCE AND FOR ALL, EVERYONE OF YOU THAT IS COMPLAINING ABOUT WHY MEXICO LOST, MEXICO LOST BECASUE THEY DIDN'T PLAY GOOD, BECAUSE THE US PLAYED BETTER!!!

I have seen in the bests leagues in the world (i'm talking more about the premiership) that the players no matter what the resut was of the game shaking hands with the other team, Chelsea and Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool. so there's no excuse about why Mexico didn't shook hands with the US.

USA, USA, USA!!!!!!

Alright. I think many of you are getting off subject, and going off on a tangent that isn't necessary.
Please, out of respect, don't insult one another. We are talking about a friendly soccer game between Mexico and the United States. Not about political views or about any conflicts between the two countries that has no relation to soccer. Don't go on and act like children. If respect should start anywhere, start here.

Anyways. In response to the question, there was no need for it really. The Mexican team acknowledged the defeat, but were proud of their effort. As Rafael Marquez mentioned, after the heart-breaking loss, "it hurts because of the rivalry between the two teams and the importance of the match. However, we have to take the positive from the match. We created a lot of opportunities but we just couldn't convert. It's just the beginning."

Now there was no need for the negative talk about the Mexicans. There is so much we can say about the United States. But I am not going to stoop down to that level. Oh, and talking about maturity levels, let's not get started on how mature your question was. Grow up, show maturity and don't be so closed-minded. Don't take this as an offense. Take it as a simple suggestion.

P.S. I am not upset really about the match, but a bit sad because Mexico showed great effort. They played an amazing game. I am not taking away credit from the United States. They played to win, and they got it. United States has come a long way, and I acknowledge that.

The Mexican people are wonderful folks. I love their culture, how it has impacted the US culture, their love of family, hard work, etc. Too bad the tricolor don't represent the Mexican folks I know.

The intensity of the match in the second half made up for the poor play in the first. The tricolor controlled play 75% of the game, with a couple of really nice chances that weren't blown - Howard in goal was awesome.

But why does the Mexican national team resort to hacking? And then, outplaying the US most of the game, but still allowing 2 goals, and they were quality, they give their typical response, march off the field and talk about what a quality team they are. Give credit where credit is due - the US figured out how to win another one on US soil.

Did any players shake hands? Did the coaches? I wasn't their and am curious if there were any 'men' on the field at the end of the game.

Well, I'm not going to talk about wether if they are or are not bratty little boys or if Mexican people are primitive and disrespectful but I will talk about how most of the game Mexico was superior to USA. They had 70% of possession of the ball throughout the game but then again USA was intelligent enough to score on the only two opportunities they had. Mexico had alot more opportunities but they just didn't take advantage of them. I think we are just gonna have to wait for a rematch and see what Mexico has to offer and from I what I know the game will probably be in Mexico.

First off lets keep this strictly on the game. Just as people go off topic and start insulting other cultures, political issues is a means of expressing anger over something they are offended by insulted or simply don't understand. To answer your question with a little more emphasis on the developement of the rivalry between these two TEAMS not countries, You have to go back a few years. prior to the 90 WC in Italy, the US team was pretty much not classified as a threat to anyone. Mexico hasn't fared too well in World Cups either but, its safe to say that theyre standing in the world game was a good team certainly not one of the elites, but again having the capability to beat elite teams.now Futbol, soccer, whatever you wanna call it is the national sport. When it comes to the national team it is like a religion. When facing, the US, it was always a way of getting back at the Americans, for whatever reasons one could think of. It was a feeling of the one thing that US couldn't do better. When the Us started improving, starting with the introuction of the MLS and developing players, thats when you started hearing about the matches because they became closer and closer. it was no longer a blow out and it seemed mexico was no longer the dominant team in the CONCACAF. being born here and having played for the Chivas minor league system so to speak, I saw how little credit they gave American Soccer.. they would play with more pride and anger than with their heads. nowadays the US has a solid foundation of young players but they aren't at the elite level of the Brazil or Argentina or Italy teams.. etc.Yes they did tie Italy in the WC but if you know about soccer you know you cant conclude anything from one game. the reason Mexico players dont shake their hands is just that, lack of respect but more than anything its the feeling of losing to someone you dominated for so long and realizing that they are on par with you .

Just like people here show ignorance when it comes to the NBA. It's no longer a walk in the park to beat foreign teams. yet many make excuses that the best players werent on the court. getting routed by Greece, losing to spain, Argentina in the sport you created. Granted individually it still seems american players have the edge in athleticism and indivual skills but the rest of the world uses that to their advantage, much like the US soccer team uses Mexico's anger and frustration to theirs. Same for Baseball, Americas pasttime is full of international players, so to sum it all up, it has to do with changes and some people refuse to accept the inevitable. US had been an untapped market in soccer, and with such a big emphasis on sports in our society and having better resoures to use on the talent its inevitable for the US to rise, but it's also important to maintain humbleness or you will be deeply shocked. hence WC 2006.

I see how much you know about soccer, why are you only refering to the Mexican team when there is tons of other teams that act the same way. By the way you put it, sounds like you just dont like Mexicans becuase your not only putting down the players from the soccer team but also the people from Mexico. You should watch what you say becuase youre insulting all the people from Mexico.

i agree Mexico did dominate the game , but what counts that a team actually scores goals that is what wins the game not dominating the game. i do agree also that they should of shaken hands, but to Mexico it is rivalry and its just in its early stages later on it will become a huge rivalry like argentina v brazil or argentina v england
or club teams like river plate v boca juniors or chivas v america also the us may beat Mexico but only on us territory they have never beaten them on mexican territory so this loss doesnt worry me what both teams need to do is face each other on neutral territory

PS i think it was very disrespectful calling mexicans primitive and as well the country if u dont kknow anything about the country then keep your mouth shut.

Junkmail is an idiot and a racist. The Mexican national team has always been that way. It isn't because they hate our arrogance, it's because of jealousy. Furthermore, if you travel to Mexico I doubt your opinion of the people will change.....very primitive. That whole US had weeks to train is a bunch of crap. It was training for our younger players and many didn't even play in this game, we didn't field all our European based players, and while Landon is a European reject so are Fonseca and Borgetti. I am white and speak two languages....because I have to communicate with Mexicans who refuse to learn English. The comment about Mexico going farther in WC06 is stupid. They still lost. I can remember WC02 when the US knocked Mexico out and the US still won CONCACAF leading up to WC06. Mexico hasn't won anything. The country sucks and that is why so many come up here. The worst part is the horror stories by the people who do make it up here....at the hands of other Mexicans. Rape, murder and enslaving women into the sex trade....what a sad, sad country.
