Help, I've seen this term used about the "new breed" of people that supposedly is going to replace our more limited-powered humans. Anyone know how to define these new folks?
And, does anyone know why the term "indigo" is used for them?
thanks a zillion,...........

The indigo children aren't the newest, the crystal children are. But the ingigo's are the ones who are going to begin the change, basically by tearing down the old beliefs systems so that the crystals can begin to rebuild. My 11 year old son is an indigo. My 13 year old son and 3 year old daughter are crystals. You can tell the crystals by their kind and quiet demeanors and their eyes. Tyler and Stephanie have the clearest, palest eyes, and noone in my family has ever had eyes like this. The indigos are very dark eyes. Chase's are almost black. It's wild.

Indigo children is a term used within the New Age movement to refer to children who are alleged to possess paranormal attributes such as the ability to read minds.

The Indigo child concept was first publicized in 1999 by the book The Indigo Children: The New Kids Have Arrived, written by the husband-and-wife team of Lee Carroll and Jan Tober [1]. Carroll insists that the concept was obtained via conversations with a spiritual entity known as Kryon.

The reason for the use of the adjective "indigo" is not universally agreed upon: some sources link it with an early researcher into the phenomenon, who was synesthetic. It has also been claimed that these children appear with an indigo-hued aura.

This is from wikipedia, but it is pretty much just an exerpt from Indigochildren.com. Personally they sound like the spoiled brats that people who have no backbone are raising. It sounds like another excuse for your child to be a snotty monster who dislikes authority.
Although there are different claims as to the origin of their name it is mostly linked to their Indigo colored Aura.
Have very old, deep, wise looking eyes

Carroll and Tober identify ten attributes that they assert describe Indigo children. From www.indigochild.com:

They come into the world with a feeling of royalty (and often act like it).
They have a feeling of "deserving to be here," and are surprised when others do not share that.
Self-worth is not a big issue; they often tell the parents "who they are."
They have difficulty with absolute authority (authority without explanation or choice).
They simply will not do certain things; for example, waiting in line is difficult for them.
They get frustrated with systems that are ritually oriented and do not require creative thought.
They often see better ways of doing things, both at home and in school, which makes them seem like "system busters" (non-conforming to any system).
They seem antisocial unless they are with their own kind. If there are no others of like consciousness around them, they often turn inward, feeling like no other human understands them. School is often extremely difficult for them socially.
They will not respond to "guilt" discipline ("Wait till your father gets home and finds out what you did").
They are not shy in letting it be known what they need.
In her article [2] Wendy H. Chapman (enlightenment teacher at and Director of Metagifted Education Resource Organization [1]) says that Indigo children will also display many of the following:

Have strong self esteem, connection to source
Have an obvious sense of self
Refuse to follow orders or directions
Get bored rather easily with assigned tasks
Are rather creative
Display strong intuition
Have either strong or no empathy for others
Develop abstract thinking very young
Are gifted and/or talented, highly intelligent
Are often identified or suspected of having ADHD
Are frequent daydreamers
