Hey it's me again. This question is concerning Gadget. Im not particularly worried yet - just need to know what's going on. I've looked it up online and found absoloutely nothing!!! Gadget, before going to sleep, will insist on chewing both of Angel's and Snickers ears and fall asleep with one in his mouth - much like a binky. It is SO adorable but I was wondering - will this cause sores on their ears? Or is it just social grooming? Should I try to stop him with bitter-apple on their ears? Plz help! Thanks :)

My one ferret used to do that, but then just grew out of it one day. I wouldn't try to stop Gadget unless the other ferrets are squeaking or you notice a loss of fur on the ears. If you notice any of those, then yes, use the bitter apple to stop him from hurting them further. If that is not the case then Gadget is just being a silly ferret (and that's why we love them!)

Ferrets can even have fleas and mites.. the place did you get him ? in accordance along with his age.. maximum ferrrets will finally end up with some style of adrenal gland problems, and grooming excessively would be an illustration of this besides. i'm valuable considering you're knowledgeable you would be traveling the vet for vaccines and annual verify-ups,... why no longer call the vet day after today and have them take a seem at Jack.

Ferrets, believe it or not, like the taste of earwax. that's how I chose one of mine, he was going around the cage chewing on all the other ferrets ears while they were sleeping. It's really nothing to worry about, just friendly grooming more than anything.

I'd say it's social grooming. My ferrets groom each other all the time. Unless the ferret receiving the grooming is making that little ferretish "get away from me" noise, I'd say it's fine.

This is normal, and nothing to worry about. Young kits will sometimes resort to sucking their cagemates' ears if they have recently been weaned.

I wouldn't worry about it unless they were complaining while he was doing it.
