Thanks - I just want to throw it away.
It's old and such a small drive.

yes & no:
Yes your info will no longer be seen on your puter cause the drive is no longer attached ( you will need a new drive with an operating system to use your puter now)
no: if someone else hooks up your hard drive to their puter all the info you had stored is accessable unless you formatted the drive prior to removal ( fyi.. good plan is to use a shredding program to completely remove / trash any info on the drive, or perhaps just smash the h out of it with a hammer! :)
the drive can not be used if it is not hooked up but it can be hooked up by others , so why take the chance? just my 2 cents!

If the hard drive is not in the computer, nobody can see the information. Not the most common way to do that - but it would work.... Now the computer won't run with out the hard drive...but it would keep people from seeing you information.

No, someone can take your old hard drive and put it into a computer and read anything on it. The most fun thing to do is to destroy it. You can have some fun and vent some frustration by getting a hammer and beating it up. Make sure you break it good and scratch up the platters inside.

U may hide yr information without removing yr hard drive,If u have only one fixed hard drive!
But if u have only an external hard drive which has the operating system;( yes sure if u remove it, no body can see the information )
But if you have fixed hard disk which includes the operating system; and even if u removed yr external hard drive which has yr important information, the original information could be read even if u deleted them from the fixed hard disk, only if u have special softwar!
for more information pls send e-mail!
regards

If you remove it, someone else can connect it to their PC as a slave and view the info. If you are really worried about its content.. take a large magnet to it... Just keep your watch out of its way. You can also open up the drive and rip it apart...put different pieces in different trashes, it won't bite.
