Well sending a heartfelt letter is better than showing up on the doorstep I suppose.
But isn't there part of you that enjoys the fantasy of what this famous person would be like more than what the reality would be?
Just enjoy being in thrall to them, no need to contact them, you might just get an answer and be sorely disillusioned!

I do not think it is illegal to send a letter to their home address, as long as you did not do anything illegal to get that address. As far as not looking like a stalker, I would say do not mention anything you know about them that is overly personal. That is, talk about their acting or singing, or whatever it is that they do, as opposed to their personal habits. Unless they have a web page where they have already discussed them.

Just be honest and let them know that you are a neighbor and you're not some wierdo stalker. But who is to say that they get mail delivered to their home anyways?? Alot of celebrities have P.O. boxes so that way no mailmen come up to their houses. Send over a batch of homemade cookies or something for a good faith gesture.

Absoulutly not, hundreds of celebraties get fan mail all the time from fans all around the world. The only thing would that would be illegal is if you make any kind of threat towards the person, otherwise, it isn't illegal.

They will sometimes get a TRO on you just because you took the time to find their home address.
Remember, these people want and deserve their privacy as much as you and I do an there's a reason they have addresses designated for fan mail.

A letter is not illegal. Placing it in their mail box, considering the traspassing laws in their area, may be. use the postal service...and word your letter carefully to explain your a fan, not a stalker.

It's not illegal to send someone a letter, they may or may not read it. They usually have a secretary to do that now.
Due to paranoia.
