Will a doctor/midwife only preform this if the woman is overdue? I'm 38 weeks and have been in labor off and on for two weeks now. I'm dialted to 2 centimeters and 50% effaced. My son is doing fine and I can only complain about things that are normal discomforts at this time in my pregnancy. I have an appoitment in two hours to see my midwife and I know there's a chance of her asking me if I'd like to be stripped. Does it hurt? Can there be complications if this is done since I am positive to group b sterp? Thanks for the answers in advance.

As for the strep they will put you on antibiotics,no it does not really hurt, just doesn't feel like a nice back massage!LOL!Chances are very slim they will strip them right now, they will most likely wait till you are a full 40 weeks unless you have other complications arise.Good luck,I was 2 weeks over due, induced 3 days in a row and I still only dilated just over 1 cm on day 3 to have my membranes stripped all to have an emerge c-cection!

hi, I had my membranes stripped 2 days in the past, on my due date. i replaced into purely a million cm dilated and were that way for a week. a million. I won't lie, for me it harm rather badly, yet purely for a quick 2nd. After that it replaced into purely somewhat sore for the the remainder of the day. 2. 40 8 hours and counting, and not a unmarried contraction... i heard it induces hard artwork in a million out of three women individuals. So those are good odds. 3. If it works in any respect, you're meant to be in hard artwork interior 40 8 hours. 4. that is purely meant to detach the water bag, yet for some human beings it surely breaks the water bag. (that's no longer the variety of undesirable situation nonetheless, in my opinion!) good luck!!

All sorts of doctors do things differently. It does not hurt to be stripped. There shouldn't be complications as long as you have antibotics at the same time.

I would wait. Baby will come when he is ready. It could be a fingernail not fully developed or a heart valve.

I do know your discomfort. Hang in there girl, it will get better, you will not be pregnant forever :)
