Hey I understand you completely and it is hard to keep your dignity. I just went through this myself. I almost had a nervous breakdown, but I took about two years and all my savings to rethink my life and now I am doing ok. I moved back to Los Angeles where the market is better and I am working and happy again. Hang in there. You have to focus on what you are good at and go to where you can make the most money doing it. Maybe Florida isn't it.

I feel your pain my friend. I've been there. There are some good options out there but they are hard to come by. And the older we get the less chance we have for a heavy physical labor type job.
First take some alone time with yourself and sit down and write down what you are really good at. For instance: Are you a people person? Do you speak eloquently? Are you good at expressing yourself? Do people tend to follow your lead? Are you creative? Do you do woodwork, tinker with small appliances, garden, and so forth and so on.
Take a really good objective look at your skills. All of them...even the things you think don't really matter. You know most people who do something really well don't even realize what an important skill they have. Ask yourself this. "Do other people tell me that I do something really well?" has anyone ever commented on your abilities or said "gee, I wish I could do that as good as you do." Those are the skills you should be looking at. Also what did you do in your "past life" your working life? Those are skills too.
Mostly determine for yourself what you really enjoy doing. Something that you absolutely get lost in....or lose track of time when you do it. that is your true love and that is what you should be doing.
Once you have that list now start to list ideas for a business that could use that skill or even a business that you could start on your own. Just remember, my friend
"Mind is the source of creation" We must first create the idea in our mind before it can become a reality. Good luck.
PS if you decide to start your own business don't be afraid to advertise yourself. And go to the Small business web site. www.sba.gov there are people there who can help you so much.
