Now we learn that the U.S. is responsible for the deaths of far more thousands of Iraqi innocents than originally believed. And that unreported deadly air strikes have been going on for years. And our boys..the pilots who have supposedly targeted 'insurgents' - 'militias' etc. but who in many instances are simply killing at will. We can't blame them of course.A hgher power will take care of the overall perpetuators. But I become more fearful as each day passes, as more GI;'s die, as more innocents die. I understood "shock and awe" even as I did not believe in it, The U.S. had to flex her mighty muscles, she had to instill fear, not just to insurgents in the region, but to others, their whereabouts not yet fully determined..
But we have gone too far. I am more fearful of what may happen here in the U.S.A. as a result of this administration's actions, than I am of other countries, with already developed nuclear weapons; I am fearful of what or who may already be here....

I feel much like you do. When does it all stop. We have opened up a pandoras box that can not be closed. And who know what else might come out.
Why does the USA always think they are better and more powerful than anyone else? It is pure arrogance and we need to put a lid on it. Right here on answers I see horrible questions that put down other countries and brag about how mighty we are. This is plain stupid since we are desperately trying to have friendly relations with other countries and we get many people from these countries that visit here. Why do we have to put people down if they are not American?
Our government wants to be the peacekeepers of the world yet they bring in there muscle to surpress other countries. This in wrong. We should never go into another country without the help and agreement of the UN. Go it alone is not good? We have made many enemies and now we certainly are ALONE.

We have a Government that feels the need to control the world, one country at a time. Yet, we destroy the country first. We wound it then we go in and spend our hard earned tax dollars to rebuild it and we push our democracy down their throats. When they are so wounded they will accept anything just to try to be normal again. What we fail to realize is that these countries thrive on the Iron Fist form of government. They have for Centuries. And then we get a President and Cabinet that wants to make changes and they use the attack on the US as a just cause when in reality the two were never connected. The terror on the US was Bin Laden and his terrorist cell and we let him get away. The only reason we do not have terrorist acts right now is not because our President went to war in Iraq it is because we are more aware, we have Homeland Security and others watching our borders and watching possible terrorists. Yes, they are plotting their next attack on the US and we will not be ready. Why? Because we are too busy fighting other countires and pushing Deplomacy and Freedom down their throats.
We are weak. We are wounded since we are Trillions in Debt and we have lost so many soldiers and we have lost the capability of recruiting more troops. What are we going to do, draft men and women and the elderly too?
We need to get our troops home and help keep our Borders safe. This is the best way to keep the terrorist out and keep our backyard safe.
It is so important who we Vote for in this coming election. We need no controversial candidates. We need a new face that is experienced in foreign affairs and who is likable and who can get us out of this war and get us out of debt. Study the candidates and make a wise choice for your family and for AMERICA.

I remember it taking 4 months to finally go to Afghanistan to look for Osama and his posse. Then what happenned again? Oh yeah, we took the place over and starting tapping natural gas from the Caspian Sea. That's fighting terrorism, alright. Then we focus on the devil's boyfriend (South Park plug). A man who may be a mass murderer but has not made one attack on U.S. soil.
America has been spreading her mighty wings to the point of her feathers falling off. America is destined to fall. It's only a matter of time. It could happen while you're reading this answer. It could happen 3 years, 4 months, 2 weeks, 3 days and 7 hours from the time I submit this. The time frame is up for debate, but it's going to happen. And it'll be all our fault. God bless America. Peace.

The United States remains, for the moment, the most powerful nation in history, but it faces a violent contradiction between its long republican tradition and its more recent imperial ambitions.

The fate of previous democratic empires suggests that such a conflict is unsustainable and will be resolved in one of two ways. Rome attempted to keep its empire and lost its democracy. Britain chose to remain democratic and in the process let go its empire. Intentionally or not, the people of the United States already are well embarked upon the course of non-democratic empire
