for my 30 yr son to tell me to **** off in a raised tone of voice whenever he is upset? Is this verbal abuse? I've asked me not to talk that way to me and he feels it's appropriate if he is angry.

Respect, respect, respect and he has none!!!!

No way would I ever talk to my mom that way or allow my brother too and I am 44 and he is 38--- it is called respect and in noway appropriate

And if my 17 year old son soon to be 18 in April ever talked to me that way...... well lets say until he could remember who had him, raised him, fed him, clothed him, hugged him when he was down ect...ect... he would hit the road

It is called tough love and at 30 years old your son needs some!!!

If I talked to either of my parents that way, I'd find myself knocked into the next time zone. It's not appropriate at all. I'm 30 and I would NEVER talk to my parents that way. He should have more respect for you.
