Where else will the publc find something that has some appearance of fair and impartial?

No, I don't agree. Yes, they deserve public funding. It doesn't matter if you're conservative or liberal, NPR & PBS is fair to all and asks pertinent questions. They also don't make up the news or try to conform to a political agenda.

Network and cable news: Ha! I'm sorry, but celebrity gossip is not news.

If the Public wants to support NPR and PBS, they should support them! And I don't mean through taxes. Tax-deductible donations are a much more efficient way to support the media you want.
How can you assume that government financed media are "impartial"? The government is full of partisan interests.

i'm valuable George Soros, and different Liberal billionaires would be happy to %. up cost if the government stops, and turn PBS stations in genuine Liberal shops that did no longer would desire to be non partisan. DeMint want that even much less, he truly need to closes them down, and that may not take place, the government in basic terms provides 20% of their investment..
