Yeah, when I was waiting tables, I did that, too.
In my hometown, there's this guy who manages a McDonalds. He had a HUGE crush on me in High School, and to this day he NEVER charges me for anything when I go in there....

Yes, I've had this happen quite a lot. I always try to be nice to waiting staff, it can be a crummy job as I know from experience. If sometimes that means I get dessert on the house, then all the better!

A long long time ago their was this chicken restaurant i use to be able to eat for free cause the owner liked me and once this Greek restaurant didn't want to charge me cause he said i was cute...however i stopped going to both places cause it made me uncomfortable like they might think i would like them back! Hey a girl has got to be careful.

My husband and I drove semi truck together for a couple years. We stopped into the TA truck-stop in Gary Indiana for a hot meal. During dinner I thanked my husband for the treat for our anniversary. The waitress overheard me. Not only was my meal 100% free of charge, She gave us both a warm slice of Apple pie a la mode for desert too.
When we finished our meal we both thanked her greatly. She gave me the biggest hug and said it was her pleasure to help us celebrate our special day.

It's not a common practice here (I've never heard of it or received it), most servers just don't care how long you wait. Lots of moody people out there.

Nope. I don't do that. I actually work in a restaurant myself. While other employees don't ring up their meals, I always make sure I have mine ring up.
