ADHD is not a disease. It is a syndrome, basically a list of symptoms present.
In adults, Oh Well. They got this far without the excuse.
In children, medication is only appropriate for improving educational performance.
For what possible reason does the diagnosis have to do with a 4 year old?
Be very careful putting labels on children which offer a convienient excuse for poor behavior.

Try at least once a week, to take a day for your self. The 4 year old, take him to the park, or and outing so he can let off some steam. just try and keep him busy, buy him puzzles, or get them from the library, also, CD's or tapes. let him listen to them.
Now your husband and brother-law, well, when you do things for them, try and have a different frame of mind, and this will not be so much effort for you, but you have to change how you think about it. Read books on self esteem. I hope every things, get some what easier for you!

Make sure they get on meds, and make sure they take them! Makes a real big difference in the behavior. My son had ADHD, and my husband has ADD. My son doesn't have the problems with it he had as a child, he has learned to control his impulsivity and he doesn't have a bad problem with his attention span. My husband has to take his meds, or he has real problems. Be patient, read up on the subject, join a support group, if necessary. Best of luck to you.

Go to library and get some info and the Internet is full of info too.
stay away from your brother in law unless you are raising him too. Put your son and husband on multivitamins with minerals. get them extra omegas, and then buy some melatonin for sleeping. make sure that they both eat well and get exercise everyday. my son has it and i did and do all these things and he is fine now, but you have to stick with the program for ever.
