Any thing over 6 hrs a day has to have a lunch break. even i u didn't take the lunch break, it would still be deducted from your time. Look at the employ right poster that is supposed to be posted in the place of employment, it has the fed laws regarding this.

Does an hourly worker in Michigan that works a 9 hour day have the right to a lunch break and another short break during the day? This worker works at a gas station and cannot bring any food for lunch and if she wants to eat anything it has to be bought at the station, including any drink product. All has to be consumed while working.

There are laws with regard to lunch breaks, and this is best taken up with your employer or union.

However, I have been in charge of employees, and have respected any extra time they have had to work through lunch breaks, and although not been able to pay them, I ensured they got an early finish or late start to compensate.

Employers should stop treating employees as numbers, and respect them as human beings, with the right to time off for rest or meals.

I used to listen to my staff, and treat them as equals.

Call me a softy. but I always got 100% from my employees.

the law states,as per the labor board.if you work 40hrs.per wk.you are due a half hour to an hour for lunch, unpaid, and 2 10-15min.breaks paid.any time over 40 hrs.is overtime unless you are on salary pay instead of hourly pay.they do not have to pay you for your lunch breaks, but some co.do.

Check with your union if you have one. If you are not getting your lunch breaks, your employer is breaking a contract, and that gets to be serious trouble for them.

most lunch breaks are unpaid. dont think you can do that. everyone else would want to do it. and why miss your break anyway.
