No... not all flamingo are pink. Some are white. Those that are pink get their pink colour from the shrimp they eat, that are rich in red pigment. If they do not eat these shrimp, they do not gain their vibrant pink colour.

No flamingos are pink because they eat shrimp that are pink and the color "stains" their white feathers. I guess you could feed them dye to do the same thing, if that's what is happening that's a shame. Flamingos fed stuff that is not pink they will not turn pink either, so I have heard. I have a PHD in the Discovery Channel!

Flamingos Are inheriantly white, its the the food they eat that makes them pink. The more the animals they eat with Carotenoid Pigments the deeper the pink. Also there are sub-species that actually can make patterns in pink in there feathers with the pigment of the food. Also Flamingos are not ever INJECTED with dye, they get it from there main food source, which are krill, brine shrimp, red algae, and small plankton, they are microscopic invertabre found in marsh and salt waters. Color is important for stimulation in breeding and courtship so the pinker the flamingo the more desirable he or she is for mating.
DANIELLA you better kinda check out your answer better, you say first there are no white flamingos then in the middle you say the color is diet related, then at the end you say if you see a white flamingo its sick or malnurished? So what is it a WHITE OR A PINK flamingo? Lady the flamingo is white if it doesnt eat, there for its white. Then when it eats and builds up the color its PINK. Check out this photo of Juvenile flamigos these are flamingos just before they reach breeding age, they are WHITE.

Flamingos are naturally white. They turn pink when they eat some seafood (shrimps, etc) who have the pink colour in them. Most of them eat this sort of food, so they are pink. But there are also white flamingos in the nature.

Yes they are all a variety of pink. There are no white flamingos.

There are 5 species of flamingos that occur throughout the world. Caribbean flamingo, Greater flamingo, Chilean , Lesser flamingo, Andean and the James. The greater flamingo is as tall as a grown-up person is. The lesser flamingo is as tall as a first-grader

Feather color varies with species, ranging from pale pink to crimson or vermilion. Caribbean flamingos have the brightest coloration: crimson or vermilion. The Chilean flamingo is pale pink. A flamingo's pink or reddish feather color comes from its diet, which is high in alpha and beta-carotene. People eat beta-carotene when they eat carrots. Many zoo's will add this alpha and beta carotene, which is usually found in high quantities in shell fish and shrimp which is the flamingo's main diet.

The typical flamingo diet consists of diatoms, seeds, blue-green alage, brine shrimp, crustaceans, and mollusks they filter out of the water. Using their long legs and partially webbed feet, flamingos will stamp on the muddy bottom of lagoons to mix the food particles with the water. Different species of flamingo have slightly different shaped bills; the different shapes helping it obtain slightly different types of food. Flamingos drink fresh water.

A white flamingo is considered unattractive to another flamingo therefore would never breed in the wild. Usually white flamingo's are sick or suffering from malnutrition.

A group of flamingos is called a "pat".

Flamingos are pink because of their diet. The red color comes from alpha and beta-carotene in their food. Not all flamigos are pink. Their color ranges from pale pink to crimson or vermilion. I have even seen ones that are spotted.
