Racialism is a form of discrimination based on race, especially the belief that one race is superior to another. Racism may be expressed individually and consciously, through explicit thoughts, feelings, or acts, or socially and unconsciously, through institutions that promote inequality between races.

Racism is hatred against someone else's skin color. Prejudice is discrimination and grouping people into stereotypes about their race. Both are sickening. I hear a lot of people saying that minorities are the real racists because they call out racism -_- And those same people always saying that people say that minorities can't be racist, but all white people are. Those people who you find on the Internet saying these things are the real racists, they're behind their computer screens trolling on everything in sight. Minorities can be racist, but only a small fraction of the population, and the reason those few people are racist is because they never experienced anything positive, and assume that there is no good white people. That is a reasonable explanation, and they can get treatment and healing to get their lives back on track.

Race is a social construct - because homogenous groups don't think of race. Example: People in a village in Country X do not think of their race. It becomes an issue when a different looking human comes around - and THEN, race and racism are born. Now, when a MAJORITY group makes the rules for minorities, there is institutional racism. It's power related. The rest is prejudice. Prejudice is just ignorance. Then there is preference- and that is just well, personal! Not wrong or right! lol.

Wow, the "Why can't whites be racist" rant. Haven't heard that one in a while (sarcasm). But to the original question, racism is the belief that a person's race is superior to another, justifying the cruel treatment towards those said to be inferior.

Racism is when you believe that your race, what ever it may be, is superior to all other races. That being said, I must get this off my white chest. This not necessarily directed at the person who asked this question.
There are African Americans, Mexican Americans, Asian Americans, Arab Americans, Native Americans, etc... And then there are just Americans.
If you pass me on the street and call me "Whitey", "Cracker", "Honkey", or "Caveman", that's OK. But if I call you "******", "Kike", Towel-Head", "****" or "Chink", that makes me a racist.
You say that whites commit a lot of violence against you. So why are the ghettos the most dangerous places to live?
You have "BET" (Black Entertainment Television). If we had "WET" (White Entertainment Television), we'd be racists.
You have "Black History Month". If we had "White History Month", we'd be racists.
There are over 60 openly proclaimed Black Colleges in America. If there were White Colleges they would be racist colleges.
In the Million Man March you believed you were marching for your race and rights. If we marched for our race and rights you would call us racists.
You are proud to be black, brown and yellow and you're not afraid to announce it. But if someone announces his or her white pride, you call them racists.
I am proud of my race as you are of yours, but you call me a racist.
Why is it only whites can be racists?

Making derogatory statements or denying someone their rights based on race. It is not really a personal thing which many try to make it. It is based on doing something because of someone's race. It can even be a sweeping generalization like, all white women.....

My personal definition is when someone of authority prevents a person from doing what they desire because of their racial background. Being racist is when your just stereotyping and generalizing people based on skin color and also when you believe that your race makes you superior.
