least amount??? hmm, 12kbps used to work, in the ancient past, like 5 years ago. Really though, dialup ISP transmit at around 56k, you have to receive at the same level. If your modem is only 12k, then look on your ISP site for the phone number to call for 12k, (most likey they are outdated as everyone nowdays have at least 56k for dialup)

so to answer ur question, the least u can have is whatever the *least* your ISP transmits at.

If you are using a 56K modem, you should be getting speeds of at least half the speed of the modem (high 20s - to 30). Hopefully higher. If your speed is below that, you need have the phone company check the phone line.

56 or higher but connection speed is different of Internet speed.
