There is some chemical combination or something, be it in a bottle or whatever, that is obviously safe and is used by actors and actresses to make them cry, or at least, make their eyes water profusely.

What is this exactly and how would someone get some of this?

The best ones do something called "acting." Often this involves dredging up an old painful memory, or really understanding what a character is feeling.

I believe the item used to force tears, for those who cannot act, is glycerin.

By the way, what does this have to do with LGBT issues?

According to "method acting" they think of something sad or emotional from their past or imagine something really tragic. One director told a boy to think of his dog being hit by a car!

Tears already on cheeks might be just makeup, but tears coming out of eyes and running down cheeks are probably real. That's called acting and why they make the big bucks. It's also why so many of their marriages fail--they can't tell when each other is acting.

I have heard of people using pepper oil and putting it on the base of their palms. When the begin to cry they put their hands to their face and rub the oil in. A bit on the extreme side if you ask me.

I worked a lot with the theatre people in college. I remember one of the teachers saying that the best performers cultivate their experiences. If they need happy, they have a range of happy experiences that they feed upon to pull it off. Sad, angry, lustful, confused, hungry, whatever. I knew a couple of people who could pretty much cry on command and then 10 seconds later go into joyful happiness.

Actually, lots and lots of actors (myself included) can cry when they will it. There are lots of acting techniques that enable actors to do this, moth of them associated with memories, or breath-triggered sense memory.

Try breathing the same way you do when you cry-shallow hurried breaths. You might tear up. Meryl Streep does it all the time.
