I think it has mainly to do with culture and societal conditioning rather than freedom or lack thereof.

From the time we are small children, all of us are raised with certain gender values that are constantly imprinted upon us. Boys are encouraged to be direct, aggressive, and go for what they want. Girls are encouraged to be docile, passive and obedient. A boy who holds back his opinion for fear of hurting another person's feelings is seen as "weak" while a girl who tells how she really feels is seen as a "b*tch."

Here are two examples for you: 1) A few years back, I was walking down the street and a man offered me a ride. I politely said I'd rather not, but he persisted so I got in. The reason was that I didn't want to hurt his feelings and thus end up being a b*tch. After all, I'm a nice lady. He let me out after he was done molesting me. The cops never caught him. 2) My brother was approached by a guy who told him his car was shooting sparks out of the passenger side. He tried to get my brother to bend over and look at it. (Presumably so he could hit him over the head and rob him blind.) My brother just got in his car, locked the doors and drove away, telling the guy to f*** off. My brother's a bad*** and proud of it.

You see, since I'm a female, I was raised to not hurt anyone's feelings and that means not saying, "NO." Lots of females are conditioned that way. Since my brother is male, he was conditioned to be direct, say "NO" and follow through on it, adding a few curse words in the process. It's a horrible societal injustice that has been done to females over the centuries, leaving us defenseless. Luckily, a few of us are learning to cultivate our inner b*tchiness. Maybe it will be passed on to future generations of females.

As my brother said (after the incident with the man in the car), "Avie, I'd rather have a living b*tch for a sister than a dead 'lady.'"

Women are genetically programmed to protect the cave. Scan, evaluate, protect, process tiny bits of information. Men are programmed to go out and solve the big problems.

As a result, in my opinion, a lot of women today - despite great careers! great families! etc! - have so many technical and time saving devices so they now have "nothing to do" in terms of using those refined skills of guarding the cave at all costs!!! And so they have a tendency to gossip, whine, brag, backbite, "FUDGE" with facts and all the rest. They sort of can't help it.

In all fairness, the way men got screwed is that most of them have this ANNOYING habit of wanting to fix everything right away. It's so hard to just tell a guy your problems for 5 minutes ...... most immediately want to fix them and are not empathic. Unless they are gay or trained like with a good therapist.
