I plug in my computer (older PowerMac), fine. I plug the monitor into it, and at first it comes on, but then the monitor goes to amber light and won't power on. I have used this monitor and computer together before. So I tried another monitor, same brand, same model, same results. What does it sound like? Never heard of such a thing.

Excellent answers, and problem solved. It was a loose video card, and I just popped the case open and checked to make sure everything was seated, and it was the video card. Right on target.

Thanks again, and gotta love Yahoo Answers, lol!!

It sounds like your video card or motherboard is not sending a signal to the monitor. I'd check the connections to make sure that they aren't loose. If you are running a separate video card I'd also check to make sure that it is properly seated in the motherboard. If you can, check if the monitors operate properly on another computer.

If everything still points to the video card or motherboard you are probably talking about having to replace it.

It's the video card. It probably heats and a solder joint opens. The amber means it's not getting a signal from the video card.

I don't really know much about Mac's, but maybe your power supply is slowly burning out.
I had an older TV and the same thing happened to me.
