white wine will lift out red wine stain´s pour a little white wine on top of the stain , then with a kitchen roll blot the stain . Once the stain has been removed sponge wash your carpet with a little of your own shampoo, then lay a towel on top of the wet patch put a heavy object on top of the towel . This will drain out any remaining water from the under side . you most likely have to sponge the carpet again as sooner or later the remaining water will come to the surface and it might leave a mark , but once again a little sponge wash with your own hair shampoo will do th trick

Rather than getting the stain out... why don't you just cover the whole thing in red wine to dye it a nice new colour?

Club soda works well on the stain. If you still have signs of staining, then go to your local janitorial supply store and purchase some tannin stain remover. Since it is the tannin found in red wine, coffee, tea and soda that stains

On delicate fabrics: Soak the spot with denatured alcohol. Flush with white vinegar to remove residual stain. On sturdy fabrics: Coat stain with salt; let stand for five minutes. Stretch stained area over a bowl; secure with a rubber band. Place in sink; carefully pour boiling water over stain from a height of at least a foot.

Believe it or not white wine does work. Add it to the stain and dab it out. OxyClean also works pretty well.
