First off, Morissey isn't that modern. He's been around for quite some time, dating back to The Smiths.

Second, the older some people get, the more difficult it is to accept change. EVERYONE reverts back to the music they grew up with, because it's somewhat comforting to them.

Listen here, sonny. In my day music had MEANING and MELODY. It took talent back then. Yessir, those musicians didn't have drum machines or loop boxes or overdubbing or vocoders or computerized sequencers and digital editing. We had to actually play instruments and sing.

This here Morrissey fellow wouldn't last ten minutes in a studio session back in the old days. We'd bend him over and use him for a symbol stand or a mic boom. Then we'd take him out back and strike matches on his teeth. Then we'd throw him in the river like an out of tune sax player.

Yup, things was different then. We'd have taken some of these gangsta rappers and had them carry our instruments up the stairs. Hurry up there, Fifty Cent! Haven't got all day Dr. Dre!

Dern whippersnappers.

"Older" people have ALWAYS acted like that when new or modern music comes around. This isn't anything new. I remember very, very well how my parents & their generation reacted all the psych & acid & protest music we were listening to when I was an earnest young longhair. It's been that way every generation. Unfortunately as most folks grow older they tend to forget what it was like to constantly hear how crappy your music is. Forgive them for it, most of them mean well.

I'm not sure what you're calling old, or modern. I'm 32...grew up with Morrisey...and my head explodes when I lsiten to his whine. He is without question the most pompous, pretentious, whiney, miserable, vocalist to ever live. And considering that Sting and Robert Smith are alive....that's saying something. My mother now likes the Pixies after exposure from me.

Most of the older people nowadays are PHONEY! They act all uppity and righteous when they were probably the same hoodlums not long ago driving around jobless, in a piece of crap car with the music blasting and smoking weed! Makes me sick.

Because it will. Once you reach a certain age you body chemistry changes and all things not from your era will cause you to violently convulse, grab you head and eventually explode. It is a quite painful thing to watch.

Morrissey . . . . . yummmmy . . . . .
