Heres how it would work:

1 . The £1 per week would be deducted from all our salaries in your PAYE system.

2. A separate Company would be set up to which all the revenue will be paid to ensure no Government is involved in the running.

3. The pilot scheme would run for 10 years.

4. All children, retired, sick people, unemployed, job seekers are exempt

5. It would not matter if you have a car and say you do use the transport system just look at the size of car parks at stations.
It is there for all to use and there would be nothing to pay at the time you use.

6. All visitors and holiday makers to the UK can use it and they would go back to thier respective countries and tell what a magnificent system we operate.

7 It would be designed to get people off the roads and save this planet.

8. It would take a bit of getting use to for the the public at first but like all things they would begin to admire the system

9. All fuel use would be subsidised.

I'll vote for it. Makes too much sense for the government to accept though.

I live in the country, 8 miles from the nearest Tesco and when I go out in the evening, my average round trip is 25 miles. I run two cars and drive about 25,000 mile in a year, including work. What use would this be to me?

The planet's problem is too many people. Governments and International Corporations will not address this as they are greedy for the revenue generated by these people's labour.

Too many people try to impose systems that suit their own lifestyles on the rest of the population.

If it was £10 a week it might work. It costs £1 just for one bus journey, so £1 a week wouldn't keep them running.

What would the incentive be to get the company to run efficient, clean, punctual transport services? (not that we have that at the moment lol)

Sounds like a brilliant idea, so not much chance it will ever happen I am afraid.
